USC Sunday Buzz: Notable Absence At Heisman Ceremony

Mike Garrett was at Saturday night’s Heisman Trophy ceremony, as usual. He has been a regular the past several years.

But where was Reggie Bush? After making such a big deal about getting his Heisman back, he didn’t even go to the ceremony? His boy Johnny Manziel was there, who said he would not attend another ceremony until Bush got his Heisman back.

Maybe the Heisman wouldn’t pay a personal appearance fee.

  • Have you noticed how quickly players who enter the transfer portal seem to be making decisions this month?

It definitely feels more like NFL free agency, where just a few teams are involved and everyone is pressing for a quick decision. And schools are probably telling players their NIL offers are only good for a limited amount of time.

  • Central Florida cornerback Chasen Johnson, who committed to USC a couple days ago, switched to SMU on Saturday night.

    1. Travis Hunter had some impressive stats. Played in 85% of the snaps. Best defensive player in the conference. Best receiver in the conference. Glad he won. Wolf failed to mention his name.

      1. He wasn’t even the top WR in the BIG 12 and I’d bet the CB from Iowa State has a better pro career.

Jeanty was and is a MUCH BETTER PLAYER. Led the COUNTRY in rushing yards by 800 yards with a 7.3 yards per carry.

If Hunter didn’t play both ways no one would have voted for him, plus the media loves his a-hole coach.

  1. I agree I also thought where the hell was Reggie after both complaining and fighting for so long for his Heisman ? Wouldn’t keeping this night open be 20 years in the making ?
