Lincoln Riley Hires Offensive Line Coach

Lincoln Riley has promoted tight ends coach Zach Hanson to be USC’s new offensive line coach.

Hanson might do a fine job but I’m disappointed there was not at least a national search for an offensive line coach to see who might be interested.

This is the university that had Hudson Houck as offensive line coach from 1976-82, arguably the best offensive line coach ever. Granted, some of the line coaches have been awful the past 15 years but that’s even more reason to look around and see who is out there.

Instead, Riley is making the comfortable hire and going with someone who has been at USC the past three seasons. Hopefully, it works out.

  1. I’ve given this a lot of thought, and considering that Southern Cal is paying Saban-like money for Hackett-like results, we need to figure out a way to jazz up Riley’s image. I am proposing we shorten his mane to simply Linc, like the hero from the Mod Squad. Imagine all the clever puns the wolfman could produce!

    1. Charlie,

Have the shock treatments at ugly helped you? You are softer and more considerate. Glad to have you back. I was getting tired of ripping gabby, the fake one, a new one every day.

      1. thanks, brother. I figured with the trOXans struggling, the Wolfman needed some bac-up the hold of the barbarian hordes, thus I return from semi-retirement. We’ll get this figured.

      1. She’s not the brightest or she’d know Trump is not my hero. But he was the best person for the job, especially when you consider how COMPLETELY unqualified his opponent was!

  2. Scooter,

Hanson played online for Kansas St and has coached Tulsa’s online before. However, will he be as good as Hudson Houck, can he recruit, will the players play for him and SC, will he develop them to being az juggernaught that a lot of us are used to seeing with SC’s oline? I do not have any faith in him nor Riley. However, we gotta give him a chance. Hoping things improve.
