Another One Doing Better Away From Lincoln Riley

Players really do get better when they get away from Lincoln Riley.

Remember Mario Williams? He was part of that blob of wide receivers that had non-descript seasons at USC.

Well, Williams just became the eighth 1,000-yard receiver in Tulane history.

Williams caught 54 passes in one season at Tulane. He caught 69 passes in two seasons at USC.

No wonder Duce Robinson and Zacariah Branch are visiting Florida State and Georgia, respectively, this weekend.

Here are others who thrived after they left:

Calen Bullock leads NFL rookies in interceptions. Xavion Alford was first team All-Big 12 Conference. Christian Roland-Wallace is getting playing time with the best team and one of the best secondaries in the NFL and forced a fumble Sunday. Ceyair Wright has more interceptions and almost as many tackles this season at Nebraska as in three seasons at USC.

Here’s a note on Domani Jackson, who was considered a disappointment at USC. He was selected as a defensive (skill) player of the week by the Crimson Tide coaches for his efforts against Wisconsin, Georgia, LSU, Mercer and Auburn.

Jarrett wanted fellow Bulldogs defensive tackle Jalen Carter to be taken with the pick, but that’s when the person speaking in the video made the insensitive comment toward the man who was announcing Atlanta’s pick. “Jalen Carter, come on Asian.   2. The D was Grinch’s doing… Williams benefitted somewhat from lack of quality competition. Branch and Duce were not retained because Lane and Lemon were better and you can’t pay all four. …Lemon is especially progressing nicely.

  4. Indiana, Tennessee and SMU did no matter in their playoff games than SC would have, so maybe the Trojans are not that far off from the 8-12 teams, but 1-7 is another story
