USC Adds Pregnon Replacement

Purdue offensive lineman DJ Wingfield is expected to transfer to USC, according to 247.

He attended Redondo High School, El Camino College and New Mexico for 2 seasons before going to Purdue in 2023. He played right guard for the Boilermakers.

Frankly, this looks like a bit of a desperation addition following the departure of Emmanuel Pregnon, who started 25 games for the Trojans the past 2 seasons.

Also, if a guy from Purdue can show up and suddenly start following Pregnon’s departure, what does it say about the alleged faith USC has in its returning linemen?

Wingfield was granted an extra year of eligibility thanks to the recent NCAA ruling regarding JC players.

  • Meanwhile, former USC players Zacariah and Zion Branch have committed to Georgia.

They will be reunited with former USC assistant coach Donte Williams.

It will be interesting to see if Zacariah Branch regains his 2023 form at Georgia.

  • Waymond Jordan has committed to USC. He is rated the nation’s No. 1 junior-college tailback.

  1. If Zachariah Branch had the heart of Makai Lemon, it’d be one thing. I’m sure Branch will realize he needs to put or shut up now and will do well at GA.

  2. In the old days the only SC football news to be gleaned was through the L.A. tTmes and Herald, and it was very limited information they had about the team.– Now, you hear about SC’s revolving ‘player rotation’ every minute of the day

  6. -We hear Ohio St spent $23-million for its team, so that works out to an average of $250,000 per each of the 85 on scholarship. Does that mean every player is paid something, and how would you split it up?

  9. Maiava leaving? Why not, the fans didn’t exactly embrace him and he might have a fight to remain first string

  10. Zach Branch is one of the mysteries of this past SC season. He was electrifying in 2023 with his punt returns and then he stopped fielding them in ’24

    1. Branch got overconfident going into his 2nd year- he hasn’t put in the work to be a great rout runner etc.. I’d question his heart too. As far his catching passes goes, average at best. He dropped a lot of balls last year. Perhaps he was already looking to leave. Based on how he didn’t continue to improve for us or show me heart in his play- hope he hits the portal again next year!

  11. Wolfie, have you ever found one thing good about Trojan football? Makes one wonder why you cover them. Inside USC you are not. You seem really insecure.
