USC Morning Buzz: Lincoln Riley Wants A Wartime Consigliere

So Lincoln Riley is going to hire a new “wartime consigliere” general manager in the next few weeks who won’t replace the current general manager but will be equipped to deal with the dangerous new world order within college football.

Let’s make a list of things Lincoln Riley needs to win at USC:

  • More NIL
  • A new football building
  • A new general manager
  • A new football defensive staff
  • A new recruiting philosophy
  • An easier schedule that doesn’t include Notre Dame

What have I missed? You can add more items to it. Because the list of excuses keeps getting longer and longer. And it never includes Riley himself.

Can USC hire a general manager of clock management too?

Or a general manager of philosophy so we don’t have games where USC inexplicably throws 29 passes in a half like against Washington?

The best part: That small segment of gullible fans who buy every maneuver as the panacea for USC’s ills.

Riley is a politician. Every time he gets something he says he needs and then doesn’t win, he just says he needs something else. Can you imagine him surviving in that sanctions era Lane Kiffin had to deal with when USC would suit up 50-or-so scholarship players? He never would have stuck around for that.

  1. I still want to know what Big Buck Booster called Haden and demanded Kiffin be fired on the tarmac. Set back USC football 20 years.

  2. It has been written here that Wies’ new guy is in charge of “the dangerous new world order” which must mean the NIL contract negotiations and raising more dough

      1. Four years after he and other media giants helped get a feeble old man with dementia elected to be the leader of the free world! A mistake the entire world has paid for, more than a million with their lives!

So much blood on their hands. But being as mentally diminished as they are, the people who voted for it lie about being responsible.

  3. Read on SI’s website that all the 4 start OL and gone from the portal, none committed to USC.

SC gets the top JC running back, great, they already have 5 RB’s, why do they need a 6th ?

Would you have known that SC already had a GM ? Whoever gets hired will be Riley’s puppet.

    USC football remains D E A D

    1. Budda,

SC is dead. The problem is that the AD does not see it nor the president. They just like the glitz and glamour of a Saturday of football. They don’t have it in their bones or their brain what SC football is about. In order to get SC rejuvinated, fans need to swamp Jen Taco Lita Cohen with letters and email asking her what she plans to do to get the team back on the winning record like the 60’s, 70, and 2000’s. She needs to understand what SC football means to the City and to the nation and to nd.

      1. Cohen is already looking around for a new gig because her boss is heading out the door in July.

The key is who SC hires for their new President. If it’s another Wokester, then it won’t matter because they’ll just hire a woke dunce or retain Cohen.

The other issue is…. SC has graduated a lot of people in the past 20 years who probably don’t even live in the country and could care less about sports, you pay a price when you educate lots of Arabs and Chinese

  4. It has been further written that despite the fact SC’s football troubles abound, but “…it never includes Riley (sic) himself”

I don’t know, Wiley is so understated that he’s hard to read, but as the ‘CEO’ of Trojan football’s future- any man would feel the ‘heat

  5. It was a great time to be a Trojan football fan in the 1960s and 1970s and early 2000s with Carrot. Half the football players in Southern California dreamed of going to SC.

But without that exciting Trojan ‘clout today it is primarily about NIL money. Wiles said coming in that SC was way behind in implementing NIL programs i.e bankrolling it

  6. KAM: Football is now the talk of the town. And so are we. I thought I was ‘yesterday’s news but they continue to talk down about me, and you of course. How do you handle it?

DON: When tv people start slandering me I see it as only the ‘noise of madmen

KAM: ‘Can’t win ’em all’- we’re lucky if half the nation likes us. But I draw comfort from a Bible passage– “Woe unto you when all men shall speak well of you”

I still say you’ll see a lot of schools, especially west of the Mississippi, drop football or drop down a level.

    1. Hilarious how many idiots bought into Biden-Harris’ claims that a vote for them was a vote for democracy & freedom and anything else was a vote for authoritarianism. We have a LOT of really stupid people living among us.

Ladies play #8 tomorrow night! The rubber game of their 1-1 record versus top 10 teams. BEAT THE TERPS!!!

  7. Ryan Grubb should be hired by USC and Jen Cohen should demand that Riley hire him as his potential replacement. That way, donations to the football program and NIL will increase exponentially. Many of the former players are advising donors not to support Riley until he shows that he can compete with the elite of the B1G. God bless those men for trying to save the university football program.

Because all of you deserve information that matters and not the foolish gobbledegook that comes onto this site.

  8. Serious pressure needs to be put on Riley by the administration: Perform, or we’ll humiliate you into accepting a crunched down buyout, a Bobby Bonilla deal.
