USC’s Begins ‘The Game is Life’ with Pete Carroll

Today at 4 p.m. is the first scheduled class at USC for Pete Carroll.

The two-unit course is called “The Game is Life” and is co-taught with USC Dean of Religious and Spiritual Life Varun Soni.

The class is “designed to help students develop their personal gameplan for life after graduation, while using their USC education to conquer challenges along the way.”

The class has 55 students.

“Our lives are filled with great challenges and so many opportunities, each one calling for us to seek to find our way,” Carroll said. “We all have the power to compete everyday to bring our best and make the most of each challenge. Competing has always meant ‘striving’ to be our best. In our course, Dean Soni and I will hopefully help each student find their way to Win Forever.”

Whatever Carroll is doing, I hope he walks over to the McKay Center and teaches Lincoln Riley a thing or two about winning.

  1. So SC if offering a course called “the game of life.” Here’s my take on the subject.

Take an assessment of your skill set; work extremely hard to develop the skill set while preparing for an opportunity to showcase it; find an opportunity through networking and other means and jump on it.

Hopefully this will save a few students thousands of dollars in tuition.

  2. One thing Pete Carrot can pass on better than most is ‘how our lives are filled with so many opportunities” but chase the realistic ones. Or as Lucille Ball said, “It may be better to know what you can’t do than to know what you can do”
