USC Sunday Buzz: Where Are The Trojans?

Now that Taylor Mays left for Washington, it means there is not a single coach at USC who is a Trojan.

One thing Lincoln Riley hasn’t done is make sure any Trojans are on the coaching staff. That’s probably one reason there is so little understanding of the traditions of the program.

Mays was almost an afterthought. Kept around from the Helton era but never really given much responsibility. I remember a coach telling me that Riley had to ask Mays before his first season about whether USC should have a sticker of a hand making the Conquest sign on the helmet because Riley didn’t really know about it.

Again, whether there is a Trojan on staff is probably one of those things that isn’t as important when you win. But Riley doesn’t win.

Mike Williams is part of the program as Director of Player of Development but that’s different than having someone who is always on the field, in team meetings and in every coaches’ meeting. That’s where the influence rests.

    1. So what you’re saying is that $10 million a year investment for 10 years wasn’t worth it ?

      I could also go all Sparrow Calypso on you and say that with a break here and a call there USC could be 33-0 and Riley would be the King of Los Angeles !

    2. You Democrats are such Sore Losermans: Fuaxcahontas and other Democrats are now sending threatening letters to people and companies that donated to Trump’s inauguration.

      This is from the same party that has spent the last eight years calling Trump a fascist and didn’t blink when Democrat Assassins failed twice to take him out

      You may also recall that they have no problem with contributions like this when they are made to to Democrats, just Trump.
