A USC player tells me that one of his teammates wants to wear No. 55 next season.
I’m not mentioning the player because I feel like it’s not even worthy of considering such a request for any player on the current roster.
The No. 55 should be worn by a player who walks right in and starts and makes a huge impact. Not a potentially good player.
It is the number of Junior Seau, Willie McGinest and Chris Claiborne.
Does USC have anyone like that on its current roster?
Now here is the one caveat: Lincoln Riley has such little respect for USC tradition that it wouldn’t surprise me if he did let someone wear No. 55.
And just for spite, Wiley might give the Number 55 to 2 players

Ha! That sounds like something our old friend Michael Guarino would say.

Would be great to have Maui Mike back, either under his own name or a pseudonym. But this is the first time I can recall Lawyer John writing something that reminds me of MG…
Speaking of posters not seen, I hope many of the other guys and gals come back. Several seem to have gone to Alan’s USC blog.

If I was coaching, I would find a school (FBS or FCS) that has that number available and tell this player to hit the transfer portal.

How about a compromise. Let two guys wear No. 5. The last guy that wore that number cheated, got caught, caused USC to be severely sanction thereby resulting in over a decade of football mediocrity and is now suing the university. No reason to retire his number.

Yet SC honors that ingrate at every home football game with the giant #5 in the Peristyle end of the Coliseum.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHFz2-wLPx0

After less than two weeks in office, trump already has his closest advisors trying to stop the bleeding over a series of missteps ranging from confusing executive actions to the highly criticized response to the air tragedy in Washington, D.C.
Millions of Americsns regret wasting a vote on him. He has yet to address the economy and inflation…. the guy is a total fraud.

I don’t like the practice of retiring numbers. We have now retired 3,5,11,12,13,20,32 and 33. You start running out of numbers. I think reserving the number for special players, such as 55, makes more sense. Or put a time limit on it. For example 20 years. You can still hang up the jersey while allowing a player to wear it.

That sounds like a good idea.

Amusing little blog these days. I can’t remember the last time I posted on this unchecked blog, but I can’t resist. I was a regular here before normal discussions became idiotic characters. So someone labeled the page “ghost town blog” and so it seems.
I came to see how Wolf reacted to SC winning in basketball. He hated Andy, and I assume he’s getting ammunition for the new guy. I guess if a coach is winning he’ll give him slack by ignoring him before calling him Cesar
