One story I’ve heard in recent months is that athletic director Jen Cohen was “sold a bill of goods” when she was courted to come to USC.
What does that mean?
Well, she was probably told she inherited a healthy, thriving football program under Lincoln Riley.
Remember, USC had gone 11-3 before she was hired and Riley’s stock was much higher than today.
She probably also was under the impression that Carol Folt was a popular president who enjoyed broad support from administrators, employees and students. You would be hard-pressed to hear that today from anyone outside of Folt’s inner circle.
I’d also surmise she was told fundraising for the massive athletic projects (football building, soccer stadium, baseball stadium) would be a snap. This was before football’s demise and becoming aware that Riley’s a non-entity when it comes to dealing with boosters.
So, yes, a bill of goods was sold.

Listened to a BIG football podcast the other day. They think Riley is in trouble. They emphasized that the GM hiring was Jen Cohen’s idea, not Riley’s idea and that it was forced on him by Cohen and that this was essentially a vote of “no confidence” in Riley’s ability to lead the program. The podcast speculated that the next move may be to take away Riley’s play calling responsibilities much like what occurred with Ryan Day at Ohio State.

Yes, Cohen has made moves to take away Riley’s power and influence over just about everything, I doubt he lasts more than this year and he’ll look for a negotiated buyout.

Cowardly Gabby actually believes that changing policies regarding domestic oil production and deficit spending will result in inflationary changes within 30 days. Companies can’t get a permit to drill within 30 days and Democrats are fighting the spending cuts. I guess they think that paying for transgender operas in South America or queer comic books in the middle east is a good use of taxpayers money.

Wrong Cowardly Gabby. Trump opened up drilling on Federal land, left the Paris Climate agreement, and revoked the EV mandates among other orders favorable to the oil industry. He is also attacking deficit spending through DOGE. These decisions will bring down inflation over time by lowering energy costs and strengthening the dollar. Try to remember these basic facts and you won’t look so foolish.
