Just Call Him Coach Bowden

USC general manager Chad Bowden met with the media today and he sounded like the head coach, which in some respects, he is. Remember, he has more influence with Jen Cohen than Lincoln Riley.

“We’re going to take the most high school kids this place has ever taken this year,” Bowden said. “I truly believe a culture could be built through recruiting and could be done especially when they’re in high school.

“We’re going to recruit the most guys we ever have. I’ve never been a part of what we’re about to do, when it comes to how many guys we’re going to take. We’re going to be really, really aggressive in high school.

““I think this place is a lot closer than people think. I knew that before coming here. I think this place is close.”

    1. So Coach Bowden thinks it’s 2005 instead of 2025 and is abandoning The Portal. Brilliant! What is going to stop Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Texas, Alabama and Georgia from using USC as their farm club system?

      2. The number of scholarships available is now 105. You can sign more high school kids than ever and still use the portal effectively. What Wolfy left out is the focus Bowden is placing on recruiting for NIL money. He has already been in the homes of big time donors selling the vision.

  1. “I think this place is close.”– Does that mean he thinks SC is close to being great again, like under Carrot?

  4. DON: — But back to the subject at Wolf’s, SC football, it is worrisome that with a few exceptions there are no easy games in the ‘Big-10- SC losing at Minnedsota and Marilyn (Maryland) showed that. Maybe leaving the Pac-12 wasn’t such a good idea afterall. Oh yeah, the money part. In the end of the year it might be about a $20,000,000 difference, was it worth it?

His rapid pace of spending cuts, aggressive deportation policies, and hardline foreign policy stance appear to be resonating with the American people.

DON: According to a new poll by DailyMail and J.L. Younger voters notably drive the uptick in approval; 56 percent of those aged 18 to 29 now express approval, up from 51 percent just two weeks prior.

  9. Scooter,

Bowden seems to be going in the right direction. High school kids are the life blood with a few older guys, that is the correct response instead of the portal. they can develop and appreciate SC instead of being a gun for hire, or like Ol’ Richard Boone, Have Gun will Travel. BTW, Boone went to Stanford
