USC Morning Buzz: Is Something Getting Canceled?

USC has canceled the spring football scrimmage, of course.

But another event some are wondering about is the annual high school football coaches’ clinic. It usually takes place in April and so far there has been no word about it.

It’s a popular one-day event for high school coaches. USC might intend to do it but it feels like one of those things Lincoln Riley would be happy to do away with. So stay tuned.

  • If you watched the end of the USC-UCLA game Saturday night, you saw JuJu Watkins face the Bruins’ student section and flash the “fours down” symbol at them, which is a mockery of UCLA’s “fours up” victory sign.

What the TV broadcast did not show was that after Watkins missed her third straight free throw in the third quarter, Pauley Pavilion security had to order escort some UCLA students back to their seats after they moved to the court to lob insults at Watkins.

  • The USC-UCLA women’s basketball game at Pauley Pavilion drew 13,659. Don’t expect a similar number when the men’s teams play there Saturday. Tickets are still available.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

  • This was the reaction in Brazil after the film, “I’m Still Here” won the Best International Feature Film Oscar.

It said that Department of Justice political donors gave 99 percent of their money to Clinton, while at the State Department, which she once headed, only 1 percent of the reported political contributions went to candidate Trump. It said that Trump got $8,756 from Justice employees, compared to $286,797 (at that date) for Clinton. Of the political contributions from Internal Revenue Service workers, 94 percent went to Clinton.” Any more lies you want to share this morning?

Yesterday Gabby admitted that he had no intention of appearing for a boxing match. “Nobody fights over what is said on a blog.” He was incredulous that anyone should ask for an apology. (Posting fraudulently as steveg) In Gabby’s world, men are not the protectors and providers for their families. You can insult their wives, daughters, and mothers with impunity. He has has no code of honor and therefore believes that nobody else should live by one. Although he admits that he will not back up his words with a boxing match, he has now dishonesty posted at least 10 times the exact same response about how he showed up at the gym in Miami. Is this suppose to be amusing? Please stop ruining our blog with repetitive copy and paste posts.

  4. Scooter,

I thought Ju Ju looking into the camera was a little off. To me she seemed to be saying look at me. Her playing is what got her there. Maybe it was the emotions of the game that got her riled up

    1. That disappointed me a little, too, Pasadena. Hopefully she can control her emotions a little better going forward.

She is so incredible. Needs to let her playing do the talking. Ignore the noise, which she’s bound to get as one of the best, if not THE best in women’s ball right now. The haters always give the best players the most grief.
