USC Saturday Buzz: Scheduling Quirk Dismays Some

There are some unhappy USC employees because Trojan Family Weekend and Homecoming are on consecutive weekends in November.

Why are they unhappy? Because a lot of work takes place on campus for those weekends and having them back-to-back doesn’t give the people who have to organize and set them up a break.

They wonder why USC couldn’t have had one of those events earlier in the season.

The decision when to stage those weekends is a joint decision of the athletic dept., president’s office and alumni assn.

  • USC women’s basketball defeated Michigan, 82-70, to reach the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament. The Trojans face the winner of Ohio State-UCLA tomorrow.

Kiki Iriafen led USC with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

  • A big win for USC women’s tennis, which defeated UCLA, 4-3.

In the decisive match, Immi Haddad (USC) defeated Elise Wagle (UCLA) 6-7 (5), 7-5, 7-6 (6). Haddad and Wagle played for 3 hours, 45 minutes.
