USC Notes: A General Manager Can Fire A Coach?

Stanford general manager Andrew Luck fired football coach Troy Taylor today.

The GM can fire the coach? Can Chad Bowden fire Lincoln Riley?

Now a couple things about Stanford. It doesn’t currently have an athletic director, so the decision fell to Luck.

But the question remains why did Stanford keep Taylor following two investigations into his behavior but only fire him after ESPN reported on the investigations last week?

The investigations were concluded in July.

  • JuJu Watkins’ injury moved USC from 8/1 to win the NCAA Tournament to 25/1 according to BetOnline.

UConn, which is a No. 1 seed, is actually the favorite to win the national title:

  1. Stanford does have an AD. He announced his resignation last month, but is there until next June. So, Luck does have an enormous amount of power over the football program.

  2. Good opportunity to try to grab David Bailey of Stanford. He is an outstanding linebacker and we need a linebacker. Bailey played for Mater Dei.

  3. The Taylor firing is reminiscent of the Bohn firing. Not a lot of specifics. Just general allegations that he was aggressive with the female staff members. Sounds like BS.

Huge DL from Mater Dei Topui decommits from Oregon and is now predicted to head to USC

He won’t be the last to leave Nike U for USC

At USC, the GM may not fire the head coach but he sure gets hom top players that said head coach couldn’t or wouldn’t recruit

They’re actually a 2 seed, as shown in the graphic showing the new odds.
