USC Morning Buzz: Who Runs The Program?

I joked the other day that Chad Bowden might be calling plays midway though next season. That seems less outlandish given the power he wields. By removing the strength coach, USC is showing Lincoln Riley isn’t calling the shots. It must really rankle a control freak like Riley. I feel I need to repeat this because not everyone reads the blog daily: Bowden was hired … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Who Runs The Program?

Lincoln Riley Fires Strength Coach

USC coach Lincoln Riley fired his long-time strength coach Bennie Wylie today. For several years, I have questioned the effectiveness of the strength program and no one else seemed to raise concerns. Remember last year, when the media bought into the propaganda that the football team had gained 1,400 pounds of muscle prior to the season? Did USC look stronger last season? Think back to … Continue reading Lincoln Riley Fires Strength Coach

Are Lincoln Riley and USC Players True Trojans?

What do Wesley Yates, Desmond Claude, Josh Cohen, Saint Thomas and most of the rest of the USC basketball team have in common with Lincoln Riley? They are not Trojans. Traditionally, a Trojan would be someone who attended USC or developed an emotional bond with the university through their work with USC. Pete Carroll and Art Bartner fit into the latter category. But in this era of … Continue reading Are Lincoln Riley and USC Players True Trojans?

USC Morning Buzz: Let’s Take A Close Look At A Questionable Position

Look at it right now with this potential lineup: Cornerback – DJ Harvey Cornerback- DeCarlos Nicholson Safety – Kamari Ramsey Safety – Bishop Fitzgerald Nickelback – Christian Pierce or Prophet Brown I thought DeCarlos Nicholson would start last season at USC but he started only three … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Let’s Take A Close Look At A Questionable Position

Coach Bowden Outpaces Coach Riley

Coach Bowden continues to outpace Sir Lincoln of Riley when it comes to giving interviews this spring. Riley didn’t even speak to the media after Saturday’s final spring practice. Meanwhile, Bowden is available to everyone who wants to hear his pitch. Maybe he’ll be calling plays by midseason. USC's Chad Bowden is a GM with LB coach level juice! All about getting USC back to … Continue reading Coach Bowden Outpaces Coach Riley

USC Basketball Transfer Madness Continues

I’ve been critical of USC basketball for only taking mid-major transfers but that changed today when Auburn’s Chad Baker-Mazara committed. He averaged 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He is Auburn’s second-leading scorer last season. No sooner did Baker-Mazara, then Keonte Jones of Cal State Northridge decommitted from USC. The basketball portal is a joke. By the way, Baker-Mazara will be 26 years old … Continue reading USC Basketball Transfer Madness Continues
