The Basketball Coaching Carousel Continues

One thing I emphasized when Eric Musselman got hired was that he burns through assistant coaches. Back in January I wrote about “rumblings” about staff changes.

Well, assistant coach Quincy Pondexter is not returning next season.

Musselman has wanted an assistant with L.A. ties but struck out with candidates like Eugene “Pooh” Jeter, who is currently assistant general manager of the Portland G League team.

Some coaches are reluctant to take a job with a coach who might fire them after one season.

By the way, if former USC guard Wesley Yates transfers to Kentucky, he will be reunited with long-time USC assistant Jason Hart.

  • USC freshman guard Jalen Shelley has entered the transfer portal. He played in only seven games.

He was wonderfully blunt about his appetites, according to 3rd wife Carole Bayer Sager: “What I now realize is that nothing changes with Burt when he changes wives. KAM: Now that the 2024 election is in the rear view mirror and it’s safe to do so, multiple Democrat Fake News Media journalists are writing and promoting books about how awful Joe Biden’s mental condition was during the 2024 campaign and even back to the 2020 campaign when he was largely hidden from view.

  8. KAM: If you are a Lincoln Riley fan, and I am, you got to like the redemption he apparently has coming his way with some nice recent recruiting. The ‘universe cosmos has decided to pay him back for his football miseries.

    DON: He recruited fine in Oklahoma and assumed SC recruited itself, but he was blind-sided by the the NIL-money introduction and SC at first not willing to pay ‘the going rate’

  9. KAM: Returning to our dissecting old comedians’ material, you got to look at Rodney Dangerfield, although his self-effacing put-down humor had to be seen to be fully appeciated.

    Nevertheless, I liked the one where he said, “When I was a kid my parents moved a lot, but I always found them”

    DON: -Or the one where he commented, “When I was born I was so ugly the doctor slapped my mother”

    1. KAM: In a huge, five-page, 3,200-word spread in Sunday’s Washington Post, Style section writer Jada Yuan heaped more liberal bile on the grossly anti-Christian, anti-family, pro-baby death, and far-left crowd behind the show The Handmaid’s Tale ahead of its final season.

      DON: As is usually the case with puff pieces on the show, Yuan  left out that star Elizabeth Moss is a devout Scientology which, if there ever was a dangerous mind dead cult, that’s it.

  10. KAM: Another thing I’ve caught Riley saying: “We’re going to be here for a very long time,” and why not, he has 7-years left on his contract at $10-million a year, although with inflation as it is, at the end of his contract that 10-million might only be worth 1-million
