USC Morning Buzz: It’s Transactions Tuesday!

Five-star basketball guard Brayden Burries of Corona will announce his college decision Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. USC is among his final five choices.

  • Three-star cornerback Peyton Dyer of Duluth, Ga., has decommitted from South Carolina following a visit to USC. Lincoln Riley’s going to get a Georgia recruit!

He must have a deal with Chad Bowman that allows him to a get a few Texas/Georgia recruits to supplement the California commitments.

  • Former USC guard Avery Howell has transferred to Washington. Howell is from Idaho.
  • Former USC basketball player Jarvis Turner has emerged as a candidate for the Loyola High School boys’ basketball coaching position. He is currently the coach at Beverly Hills.
  • The USC women’s track team is ranked No. 2 in the nation while the men are No. 5.

  2. Peyton Dyer is rated a 4 star by some, has offers from Ohio St, Michigan, Georgia ( Donte is really after him ) and other SEC schools, he’s 6-1 190, can also play safety or WR. Wouldn’t be surprise to see him end up at Georgia.

  3. A big part of the problem with SC basketball through the decades is the fans, or the lack thereof at the Trojans’ arena in Galen Center. A sellout crowd adds excitement to a game, and basketball players want what SC cannot provide. Fans!

    2. I’m so old I can remember when the excuse for the lack of support by the fans was the men’s team played in the Sports Arena and if we just built a new arena the fans would come support the men’s team. Old Lou Galen was snookered by that sales pitch.

  4. How many cornerbacks is USC trying to land. They already have commitments from Sermons, Lockhart, and Riordan, all highly rank. They going hard after Arrington and another guy, Finney(?). There current secondary with Williams, Conway, and the kid from Upland, Tristen Castro, is young and highly regarded. Now a kid from Georgia. You only get to play two, plus the nickel back.

    It is interesting that Loyola High, the greatest high school of all time, by far by none, might take another head coach that had SC experience. I remember seeing Jarvis Turner playing. He was a power of a forward. He did well.
