USC Friday Buzz: Now Here’s A Spring Impact!

USC general manager Chad Bowden is making a huge impact. He told the L.A. Times he got Charmin Ultra Soft toilet paper placed in every bathroom used by the players.

And some of you questioned why he makes $1 million a year.

  • Lincoln Riley claimed Thursday the running backs “could be the most effective room that we’ve had in the years we’ve been here, based on what I’ve seen on the field at this point.”

Does that mean Riley is actually going to run the ball more next season?

  • Redshirt freshman Ratumana Bulabalavu has moved from defensive to offensive line. Whether it is permanent change will be determined.
  • Did you see Steve Sarkisian, 51, recently became a father again? His wife, Loreal, a former USC track assistant coach, gave birth to a baby boy.

Sarkisian is hosting USC linebacker commit Xavier Griffin at Texas this weekend.

  • The Golden Age of women’s basketball in Los Angeles might be over. USC lost two of its five-star freshmen and JuJu Watkins is out with a torn ACL. Meanwhile, UCLA lost its entire freshmen class to the transfer portal and key juniors Londynn Jones and forward Janiah Barker also entered the portal.
  • USC held its annual Swim with Mike fundraiser last weekend. It used to get a lot of attention because it was held in conjunction with football practice and the public could attend both events. Football players would also head to the pool after practice to participate.

But it was hard to even find a mention of last week’s event with spring football practices completely closed to the media and public on Saturdays by Riley.

  • The USC women’s water polo team is ranked No. 1 after opening the season ranked No. 3 in the nation.

The interview happened one week after Biden debated then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

    1. Little Georgie knew that Biden had dementia and was mentally incapable of running the country. He also knew that an unelected Obama surrogate was making Presidential decisions and had control of the auto pen while Biden was eating ice cream at the beach in Delaware. But he was still willing to back Biden and later Harris because “Trump is a threat to democracy.” He felt no obligation as a news person to share his knowledge with the voting public. He had to protect Biden. The hypocrisy and arrogance of these people is off the charts. And I believe he still has his job. Gee, I wonder why half the public no longer believes what is broadcast by the main stream media.

    We used to be a dominate school in many many sports, not so much these days, unless it’s beach volleyball that all of about 12 schools play. Oh and women’s water polo, that all of about 12 schools play. We used to be a dominate football school but we hired a socially awkward dunce and we can’t get rid of him because his contract buyout is more than we can handle. We did hire a seemingly competent GM to recruit for him, but we still have the socially awkward dunce to coach them, so……………..

    Our basketball team is run by a guy who has little man syndrome.

    Our baseball program, that was once dominate, is now akin to a traveling circus thanks to the football coach demanding a new football building, so our baseball field is gone and we play in Irvine which is about a 2 hour drive from campus.

    We used to be good in the ” minor sports like tennis, volleyball, swimming etc but we went cheap and hired a bunch of 3rd class coaches and the results are what you would expect. We whine about how scholarship limitations have screwed us but somehow Stanford seemed to field many championship teams, wonder how they did that ?

      4. I like the Meiomi Pinots. Been screw tops for as long as I can remember. Went on a Napa wine tour over 30 years ago and was told the only reason wood corks are used is cultural/marketing and that screw tops are equal or superior to corks with less expense.

    3. MG: What if USC has Rachel Zegler, the star of the new Disney film Snow Woke, as the commencement speaker for the Women Studies department. She can use the platform to denounce the traditions of USC much like she used her staring role at Disney to denounce the beloved classic Snow White. She cost her employer a loss of a hundred million or so while collecting a paycheck of a few million but she can emphasize to the graduates that doing the right thing sometimes comes at a cost.

      5. Jordan Peterson describes Cowardly Gabby and Fauxcahotas perfectly! In this video Jordan Peterson mentions that his tested IQ from years ago is about 150. That fits with my hunch based on knowing some really bright people. He has a level of intelligence we rarely meet, which is why hostile interviewers come to grief.

        That same experienced-based hunch tells me that Cowardly Gabby and Sen. Elizabeth Warren aka Fauxcahontas’ IQ cannot be higher than the mid-80s. Telling the difference between 90 and 110 isn’t that easy. Social skills, education and what is being discussed cloud the differences. Only when someone has to learn something new does that show up. Someone with an IQ of 110 will learn easily. Someone with an IQ of 90 will struggle but eventually learn.

        But once someone’s IQ drops into the 80s, that becomes obvious. They’re simply incapable of seeing what is obvious to most people. You see that in Warren’s inability to think clearly about these two Secretaries of Defense. Comparing and contrasting the competence of two people for a job isn’t that difficult, but she can’t do that.
