USC Morning Buzz: More QB Nonsense

Did you see Colorado is going to retire the jersey numbers of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter on Saturday?

Hunter won the Heisman Trophy so no problem. But Sanders? Seriously?

Only four players in Colorado history have had their jersey numbers retired and now Sanders will be among them. His claim to fame was he won the Unitas Award and was Big 12 offensive player of the year.

I’m not a Colorado history expert but I don’t see Cliff Branch, Kordell Stewart or Michael Westbrook with a retired jersey there. Or linebacker Alfred Williams, a two-time All-American.

  • Is UCLA going to get Nico Iamaleava? There is a growing feeling he might end up making less money than he made at Tennessee ($2.5 million). That would seem to put the Bruins in the picture.

If he does transfer there, expect people to forget that he didn’t set the world on fire at Tennessee.

Last year he threw 19 touchdown passes and 11 came vs Chattanooga, UTEP and Vanderbilt. Four of his nine TD’s in the SEC came vs Vanderbilt.

    The disruption of learning that has plagued campuses in recent years is unacceptable. The harassment of Jewish students is intolerable. It is time for elite universities like Harvard and USC to take the problem seriously and commit to meaningful change if they wish to continue receiving taxpayer support.

  4. KAM: DOGE Announces $2.6 Billion in Savings After Terminating 180 Wasteful Contracts – Includes $85.5k for “Live Plant Maintenance Services” Contract and $265.5k for “Social Media Monitoring Subscription, Training, and Platform Setup”.

    DON: The department has saved taxpayers an estimated $155 billion so far in asset sales, contract/lease cancellations and renegotiations, fraud and improper payment deletion, grant cancellations, interest savings, programmatic changes, regulatory savings, and workforce reductions.

    This amounts to nearly $1,000 per taxpayer.

If the recruitment of psychologists by a House Democrat leader doesn’t convince skeptics that TDS is real, I’m not sure what would.

        The purpose of the session, according to multiple attendees, was to counsel Democrats about how to approach conflict and effectively combat what Raskin described as “authoritarian styles of speech.” Another attendee said Judiciary Democrats were also advised to avoid devolving into partisan mud-slinging — a more common hallmark of the House Oversight Committee, which Raskin previously led as the top Democrat.

        During a retreat last week for Judiciary Democrats, Raskin — the new ranking member of the key panel — hosted Jim Coan, a University of Virginia professor of psychology, and Hal Movius, a consultant who specializes in “negotiation,” “influence,” “emotion regulation,” “leadership” and “organizational development.” Coan’s “recent work emphasizes the neural systems supporting social forms of emotion regulation,” according to his bio with UVa. The retreat was held at the Library of Congress.

  10. UC Berkeley’s endowment was valued at $7.9 billion as of the 2023-24 fiscal year. This endowment generated $245 million in payouts to the campus during that same period. Meanwhile it cost a student $40,000 a year to go to Cal. The educrats have six figure for life jobs while the students go into debt.
