People who watch the scrimmage portions of USC practice say that defensive tackle Jamaal Jarrett has been impressive.
So why did he have only three tackles in 11 games at Georgia last season? In 2023 he had six tackles in five games.
This will be a big season for Jarrett to see if he can finally show something in games. We all know what happened with Bear Alexander in that dept. He is in a similar predicament at Oregon.
If Jarrett can deliver, it could make a huge difference for the defensive line.
- So Nico Iamaleava finally officially transferred to UCLA. Aside from the NIL drama, does it make sense for Iamaleava to move from a program that went to the College Football Playoff to a program that will be considered a success to finish in the top half of the Big Ten?
Does it even matter to Iamaleava? Winning hardly seems a top priority. That’s fine in in the age of revolving transfers but here’s a more important quality: Performing.
Will Iamaleava perform? His performances at Tennessee were mixed at best.
And how long is he going to be at UCLA? In a year, he could either be declaring for the NFL Draft or (maybe more likely) transferring to a better school. Who trusts him to stay two years at UCLA? Who trusts him period?

Reports state that UCLA was the first school to offer Nico. He turned down one million and pointed out that he was currently making 2.4 million and wanted 4 million. Nobody else offered him and with timing running out he signed with the Bruins on Saturday. Nobody knowns what UCLA ultimately paid him but it appears that it was substantially less than his Tennessee contract.
