USC Saturday Buzz: Recruit Stays Committed For Five Weeks

So, Kohen Brown, a four-star wide receiver from Waxahachie, Texas, has decommitted from USC.

He was committed for five weeks and what a shock that a Texas recruit changed his mind. How many more will decommit in the next year?

It also begs the question why a recruit with 42 offers needs to commit in April of his junior year?

  • Former USC assistant basketball coach Quincy Pondexter has been rehired at his alma mater, Washington, as “special assistant to the head coach.”
  • Terrible news to report: Former USC All-American swimmer Presley Bard Anderson has passed away after being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2022. She was a team captain from 2010-11 and an All-American backstroker.

She is survived by her husband, Kirk, and four children.

  • Writer-director James Foley has passed away from age 71. He earned a master’s degree in fine arts at USC.

He is probably best known for directing “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “After Dark, My Sweet” along with 12 episodes of “House of Cards.” He also directed the music video for Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach.”

Or maybe you remember his first feature film, “Reckless” from 1984.

    1. I just read Presley’s own account of the day she got the news of her cancer —- typically it was related in as cold a manner as imaginable. This beautiful young mother deserved better than to have such devastating news transmitted in a text, followed up by a completely insensitive Q & A with a nurse.

      Wtf is the matter with our medical establishment?

  2. A month or so ago someone commented about all of us not being excited about a big commitment. I replied that I don’t get excited until they sign. Kohen Brown showed why.
