Last week, four-star cornerback RJ Sermons, who is committed to USC, reclassified from Class of 2026 to Class of 2025.
It’s significant because this is how the USC depth chart roughly looked at the three corner spots before Sermons’ decision:
- CB/DJ Harvey/Sr.
James Johnson, Fr.
- CB/DeCarlos Nicholson/Sr.
Marcelles Williams, Fr.
- CB/Christian Pierce/Jr.
Prophet Brown, Sr.
Harvey is an experienced transfer from San Jose State. So that spot is OK. Nicholson was a disappointment last year and didn’t play as much as anticipated. Pierce is untested.
And those would be the starters. Williams has a lot of promise and now Sermons will join him in the up-and-coming dept.
But overall, the position is full of questions. It’s going to be under the microscope all season. Players could rotate simply because the starters don’t seize the positions as anticipated.

Right. The IRS whistleblowers testified that they tracked 8.3 million in payments going from Burisma to the Biden family, a criminal complaint was drafted against Hunter for tax fraud, but Merritt Garland’s department of justice refused to move forward. Amazingly, the press wasn’t interested in this story. They were more interested in whether Trump’s bookkeeper improperly listed an NDA payment as a legal expense on a corporate form.

Braylon Conley also received high praise in Fall practices last year along with Marcelles Williams. Tavon Reed likes Chasen Johnson and Trestin Castro, the true freshman, supposed to be very good. If just one of these guys is ready to play, we should be solid at cornerback.

Yes. You have a competition between 2 very good returning Freshman, a transfer who started for UCF, and some very good incoming Freshman. One or two of those guys are going to be good.
