USC Morning Buzz: Who Wants To Compete Less The Big Ten Or Lincoln Riley?

The Big Ten seems to want to compete about as much as Lincoln Riley.

It’s widely known that the conference is pushing for four automatic bids in an expanded 16-team College Football Playoff.

But less publicized is that if the Big Ten proposal gets adopted, the conference will probably institute two play-in games between teams that finished third through sixth in the conference standings. The games would be played on Championship Weekend.

So that means the top SIX teams would have a chance at making the College Football Playoff.

Wasn’t four automatic bids supposed to mean the top four advanced? What does taking six teams have to do with picking the best four teams?

This has to be music to Riley’s ears. Just finish in the top six and you’ll be fine. You know who finished sixth last season? Iowa. With an 8-5 record.

Did 8-5 Iowa really deserve a shot at the College Football Playoff? Did you watch Iowa play last year?

Does the Big Ten give out participation trophies too?

The funny part is the biggest obstacle to this daft plan appears to be the SEC.

  • And all of this nonsense helps explain Riley’s attitude toward Notre Dame. He wants to go 8-5 and lose to Notre Dame and none of it matters because he can finish sixth and still play for a playoff bid. What happened to “always compete.”

The guy really evokes memories of John McKay, John Robinson and Pete Carroll.

As of now, 6 months later, only a small number of homes have been rebuilt in One Party Democrat Los Angeles after the January wildfires, with only 23 permits approved for 16 addresses in the Pacific Palisades area. The rebuilding process is ongoing, and many homeowners are still navigating the Democrat created Byzantine 13 committee permit approval process.

    1. Let’s Face it Department: These mega-fires [all initiated by arsonists, not climate change] are nothing but Step One in the Land Grab Business. Just start fires [and let them go] during high wind periods, have the fire department put out statements about “damnit all —the fire hoses aren’t delivering water [again]”, make sure there aren’t any prosecutions for the fire starters [unless the community catches them themselves], don’t allow reconstruction. drive out the middle class and make way for all new high rise….

    1. After Trump won, we knew we were in for 4 years of crying by the Dims. No matter what he does, they’ll complain about it. Idiots tried to insult him, by claiming he would “chicken out”. Then when he followed through, they still complained and said he would start WWIII. (Even though it was under Joe that we saw the conflicts erupt that have gotten us here.)

We see great examples of that “crying no matter what he does” right here, each & every day by you know who.

      4. So Cal,

I am laughing too hard. I bought gas yesterday on the south side of Washington St. 1 block east of Lake St. on the south side. The cross street is Mentor. It is the grurngy looking station just west of Arco that is on Washington and Catalina. I live off of Atchison and Lake and St. Elizabeth is my grammer school. the place I bought gas is across the street where Bill’s Chicken used to be, not it is a bakery. just a block east from the Raph’s gas station. There are four gas stations on the soutth side of Washington between Lake St. and Sierra Bonita. they have the cheapest prices in Pasadena.

  8. JKAM: ake Tapper Is Paid Millions A Year To Not Know The News. When the conversation with NY Mayor Adams shifted to the race against Mamdani, Tapper — whose network a jury found is actually fake news — probed Adams about his criticisms of his Democrat opponent.

More specifically, the TV personality claimed the incumbent mayor “said recently that the Jewish community in New York should be concerned about him,” and asked, “What specifically has Mamdani said that you think is antisemitic?” “Pro-Hamas,” Adams replied. “Hamas is a dangerous terrorist organization that should be destroyed. When you embrace the philosophies of Hamas, not only what they do to their own people, but what they did in Gaza, to lift them up and praise them, I think that’s a clear indicator that something is wrong with that.”

Clearly desperate to fulfill his role as a Democrat Party shill, Tapper leapt to Mamdani’s defense by declaring he had no idea what Adams was talking about.

“When did he praise Hamas?” Tapper asked. “I don’t recall him ever praising Hamas.” It’s remarkable to watch a man who’s paid millions of dollars a year to know what’s happening in the political world to act dumbfounded about Mamdani’s checkered history.

DON: Maybe Tapper could try watching Fox.

    1. KAM: ‘Where’s Jackie?”: Why the Public Needs Answers on Biden’s Alleged Incapacity. When then-President Joe Biden asked in September 2022 if House Rep. Jackie Walorski, an Indiana Republican who had died weeks earlier in a car accident, was in a meeting, observers were shocked. Biden had not only issued a statement of condolence; he had attended the congresswoman’s memorial service to lower the flags at the White House in her honor. As Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple noted last week, that moment should have been a wake-up call. In Washington parlance, it left no room for “plausible deniability” about whether Biden was still fit to hold the office of president. Yet Democrats, Fake News Stooges and their followers here pretended Biden wasn’t senile, he merely had a “stutter’!

DON: If it’s based on fact or knowledge, and it’s BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT THAT BIDEN IS SENILE, then it’s NOT one’s opinion……RIGHT?
