I’ve been told the dimensions at the new Dedeaux Field will be smaller next season.
Well, here’s an issue that has already arisen. People who park in the structure beyond the stadium are complaining that their cars are being hit by baseballs.
In the old days, it took a a strong blast to get a baseball into the parking structure behind right field. But that structure is now behind left field of the new stadium and it appears USC hasn’t thought of erecting a screen. It’s probably too busy worrying about the football building and laying people off.
Maybe SC can borrow the Dodgers’ old 50-foot high Chinese Screen used at the coliseum in the late 1950s

Yes, a “Moon-shot” over the Chinese screen, and what was fun was that Wally most times was Trying to hit it to left field where the Screen lie

Damn, time to adjust the auto deductible, and hope that the So Cal auto underwriters aren’t reading “Inside USC” about car damage outside the field.
And since football news is absent for a bit longer, here is an SI piece about USC-Stanford, played at the farm in 1972:

Great article. That brought back so many memories of that ’72 Dream team, the best ever. I forgot that McKay tried to run up the score at the end to please the pollsters. Turned out we didn’t need it, everyone else had at least one loss.

Yes, that 1972 team was so good I found many of the wipeouts boring– give me a close game or forget it. Never have been big on rubbing it in with the little guys
However, that 1972 Notre Dame game was one to be kept in our collective memory, as Anthony Davis ran back a kickoff in the 1st half and then did it again in the second half, burying the ‘Fighting Irish’
In a way, the 1972 game surpassed in excitement the 1974 game of 55-24. Truth is, that ’74 game was over so quickly in the 2nd half that I started laughing as the score piled up

KAM: Remember, Mark Harmon and the Blair Pair Bruins did us a favor by upsetting preseason #1 Nebraska at he Coliseum.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkSEN9GchJY. I was at the Dodgers game and they flashed the final score and people were shocked. UCLA had only won 2 games the year before running the Wishbone under huckster Pepper Rodgers.
DON: Yes that was Johnny Rodgers led Nebraska’s only loss of the season and #8 SC crushed host #4 Arkansas 31-10 that day so SC jumped to #1 and never relinquished it, routing the #14 Bruins, #10 Notre Dame and then #3 Ohio State in the Rose Bowl..

So what are the dimensions of the new field. Don’t they have building plans, models, and permits.

Good point regarding permits. You would think that with all the red tape in getting anything built in LA, that somebody in the planning dept would have considered car damage.

Perhaps we can give Riley and his driver a spot right beyond the left field fence.
Afterall, one man broken windshield is another man souvenir.

I haven’t forgotten that immigrants are people too. Hell, if your a rich white couple living on the westside, chances are they clean your home, cook your food, mow your lawn, and even raise your children.

DON: Funny how Democrat President Barack Hussein Obama deported 3 million illegals and no Democrats said Obama should remember the illegal aliens are people too and let them flout our laws and pack our ER rooms on Friday nights at 11PM and terrorize our kids at public schools and get free rides to our universities. That Obama was a meanie!

KAM: Your god you made up says that. Historical Judeo Christianity differs. The Old Testament prophets repeatedly speak of a time when the Holy One would have His “day” — a day of justice in which He would express His anger toward sin and visit judgment on sinners. They referred to this as “The Day of the Lord.”
DON: The same Bible which teaches that God in mercy and compassion sent Christ to die for sinners, does also teach that God hates sin, and must from His very nature punish all who cleave to sin or refuse the salvation He has provided. I hope it’s not true that sinners go to some Hell, for ‘who is without sin? And how does one determine the gravity of one’s sins (although ‘error’ is a better word)
And besides, the Bible is not a trusted authority source, it is filled with discrepancies such as a woman being worth 40 shekels and a man 60 shekels.
And Christian biblical scholars are not sure about what Jesus is claimed to have said, no one wrote down the words as he said them. And yet remembering Jesus the man is all I need
