USC Morning Buzz: Big Ten Coaches Are A Joke

The Big Ten coaches are something else.

  • They don’t want preseason polls.
  • They don’t want to play good nonconference games.
  • They want four automatic bids to College Football Playoff.
  • Here is their flawed logic: They believe the preseason polls carry too much weight but it’s OK to guarantee them four automatic bids before a single game is played.

  1. Between 1977 and 1984, USC had home and home games with Alabama (77 & 78), Florida (82 & 83), LSU (79 & 84) and Tennessee (80 & 81) along with the annual Notre Dame game. In 1966, the non-conference games were Texas, Wisconsin, Clemson, Miami and Notre Dame. Of course, Riley Coyote was born in 1983 so he wouldn’t have a clue about what USC Football used to be.

  2. KAM: EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said Tuesday he’s issuing draft plans to overturn the agency’s 2009 scientific finding that greenhouse gases threaten human health and welfare — a move guaranteed to spark litigation.

    • The  endangerment finding- provides a key legal underpinning for regulating heat-trapping gases from cars, power plants and more under the Clean Air Act.

    I hope you included Riley has being a joke. BTW, that is a compliment. he is much worse. he is a pencil neck geek. Thank you Mr. Freddie Blaise for the thought and song. That dude does not deserve to coach at SC. What a disgrace. I do not want a coach that wants to avoid the ND game or any tough game.

    Riley will be lost again this season and lose 5-6 games.

        If I am wrong, I will admit it and take my licks. However, I don’t believe Riley has the tatical training to take advantage of an opponent while on the field. U can plan the game at the desk, however, when the first dissapointment hits or an advantage takes place, Riley does not know what to do. He can’t think on his feet to improvise or change.

        I hope I am wrong. Nothing better than to say you are right to a friend.

      2. LR has regressed. His OU teams were much better than what we saw last year. I recall OU overwhelming the gutties at the Rose Bowl, it was 34-0 at halftime. OU threw only about 20 passes and ran the ball 40-something times, and held the gutties to something like 300 yards of offense.

      3. I’m hoping Jayden cleans up the mental mistakes and uses that great arm to full potential —if he does, he’ll bail Lincoln out of a lot of 4th quarter decision making……

  4. Back in the day, I don’t recall major programs scheduling joke games. Now it seems that the SEC teams have two of those each year. The small programs are willing to do it purely for the $$$ they receive for traveling to Tuscaloosa, for example, and losing 56-6.

  5. This is “much ado over nothing” regarding the 4 “automatic” Big-18 bids. In 2024 the conference got in 4-teams based on merit, which probably will be true in most years.

        Blame Riley for bringing Grinch. He is a loyalist. Grinch’s defense was based on being quick to the ball. His dline got blown off the ball too many times. I thought that Riley could have overcome Grinch’s defense by scoring more. It happend in the first season due to Williams. Second season, Riley did not have the offense and Grinch did not have a defense. I like the dcordinator now. I think he can build a rock solid defense. Offense, I think it will sputter due to Riley’s incompetence and the qb inconsistency.

  10. I agree with them on preseason polls. Why should any team, as the season progresses, be held out as better and ranked higher than another team with a similar record/schedule simply because some people thought they’d be better before any games were played?
