USC Sunday Buzz: Don’t Forget What Was Said Last Year

Some Lincoln Riley apologists tried to say last week that he was refusing to commit to playing Notre Dame because he was just parroting the line of all Big Ten coaches who want four automatic bids to the College Football Playoff.

Well, this is what he said a year ago, before the Big Ten even pushed for four automatic bids. He’s been against the game for more than a year.

  1. To repeat, winning national championships is such a long-shot with the Playoff system that SC should simply enjoy match-ups such as ND, Michigan and ucla

      1. The ironic thing, MG, is the Georgia Southern game is one of the most important for the coaches, ‘Ton-o-Hel’ v Wiley

    1. I love the concept….but……I’m pretty sure 2 will only gets N. D. to 50….. I just don’t see it getting them any more than that….. as a matter of fact, I hope N.D. goes for 2, loses the ball and we run it all the way back…..

      1. Well, The Dude is hoping they score 50 by, say, the third quarter ….and go on from there….to assure Lincoln’s demise.

      2. ….and I’d still like to see Notre Dame try a 2 point conversion and wind up giving the ball to us for a 2 pointer going the other way….

  2. Riley has made big demands. A huge salary, high paid assistant coaches, coaching analysists, strength and conditioning overhaul, recruiting staff overhaul, a highly paid general manager, a 200 million dollar football facility at the expense of the baseball program, and now a very competitive NIL. And USC has given him everything that he asked for. Time to go out, strap on the helmet, and win. Don’t want to hear about how we need a weaker schedule in order to compete.

    2. And how, Plow, but the bottom line is wins-and-losses, and SC is short on stallions but the cavalry (recruits) is coming, beginning in 2026

      1. KAM: UCLA faced a lawsuit from Jewish students and a professor who claimed the university allowed antisemitic discrimination during pro-Palestinian protests, resulting in a settlement of nearly $6.5 million. The lawsuit alleged that the university failed to protect Jewish students from harassment and created a hostile environment on campus.https://x.com/intent/post?text=Federal%20government%20cuts%20UCLA%20research%20funding%20over%20antisemitism%20claims&via=nbcnews&url=https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ucla-says-losing-federal-research-funding-rcna222415&original_referer=https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ucla-says-losing-federal-research-funding-rcna222415&cid=%5Bobject%20Object%5D_twitterlol

DON: Now they are whining because their federal funds were cut off because of their antisemite antics.

  3. KAM: I figured out why so many have the Monday mornng blues. Most have not worked for 2 1/2 days, a long period, and it’s hard to regain and re-start that work momentum

DON: Try working every day, Christmas even, and you will never have the Monday blues

    1. True. Remember studying for the bar exam? 10 hours a day for 6 weeks. No time for the blues. Lots of time for learning hearsay exceptions, equitable servitudes & intergovernmental tax immunities…..
