Sunday Buzz: Will USC Make Top 25 Tomorrow?

The Associated Press Top 25 poll will be released tomorrow. Will USC make it? The Trojans didn’t make the coaches’ poll.

But I suspect USC might make the AP poll. For one thing, I think the sports writers tend to reward traditional marquee programs a little more than the coaches’ poll. And they aren’t always as familiar with all the teams so it’s easier to just put a usual suspect.

Brett McMurphy has already revealed he voted USC No. 22 in his poll.

Now the crazy part: It’s Year 4 of Lincoln Riley. Can you imagine telling USC fans four years that Riley might not have the Trojans in the AP preseason poll in 2025? Of course, there are still plenty of fanboys who will rationalize it but it’s an amazing factoid.

  1. About 38 percent of USC undergraduate students are from CA, about 27 percent are international and about 35 percent are from another state. It is totally a different campus, many of whom never will care about football.

    1. Ton-o-Hel is at a disadvantage in that he takes his team 2500 miles to play at Fresno St, and then the following week he is at SC for another 2500 mile trek

        607 yards of total offense versus 195 yards for Clay and the War Eagles. Or whatever their mascot is.

  15. KAM: The SC Trojans still have that ‘something’ when entering opposing teams’ stadiums. Michigan, Minnesota and Maryland were in a frenzy when playing SC last year

    DON: But that is largely built on past glory. If SC wants to maintain its image as a footballl power, they’d better start winning again
