USC Morning Buzz: Corner Position Could Have Big Change

Keep an eye on redshirt freshman cornerback Marcelles Williams.

I thought he had a chance last season to start or at least be an impact but he was never given a chance. Now he’s definitely part of the cornerback rotation and might even start depending on how he performs in the early games.

  • Former USC QB Malachi Nelson has won the starting job at UTEP.
  • USC will travel 15,040 miles roundtrip this season. UCLA will travel 15,286.
  • USC welcomed its new students with an event Wednesday night.
  • Eric Musselman is taking a page out of the Andy Enfield playbook when it comes to making a non-conference schedule.

      1. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office used him as an expert witness in obscenity cases. He ‘s the one who came up with a counter to the “redeeming value” defense by saying “if you grind glass into a turkey, tomato & lettuce sandwich it’s impossible to say it has nutritional value.”

  1. So SC is traveling about 15,000 miles this season. How many miles did they used to travel in odd years when playing at Notre Dame–

Notre Dame round trip– 4200 miles

    Wasington/Wa St 2200

    Cal/Stanford 800

    Utah 1200

    Arizona/ASU 400

    Oregon 1400

    Total 10,200

    1. Thank you for that, John. Instructive.

[I still like my idea of scheduling only teams willing to play us at the Coli —even if that ends up being the top 12 teams in the AP Poll every year—-USC players never leave their own beds all season…unless they want to, if you know what I mean]…..

  2. Of course the 10,200 miles is a bit inflated due to SC not always traveling to Utah or to both Oregon and Washington in the same season. Therefore, the time in airplanes is almost double what SC was used to in the wonderful PAC-12 days

    1. Yep —[and even the “bit inflated” number, 10,000, is still a lot easier on our players than 15,000]. Remember when Carol said “travel will not be an issue —they’re young”……

      2. MG: There were so many cute girls when I went to high school and college. And many of my friends married there high school or college sweethearts. Most of these marriages worked out and the couples are still married today. It is sad to look at college women today. There appears to be no real warmth or femininity. That J.D Vance joke about Liberal, overly educated, 40 year old childless cat ladies had a sting to it because it is true.
