USC Sunday Buzz: Excited Yet?

USC holds its first game — actually glorified scrimmage — Saturday against Missouri State.

Is anyone excited yet? Hopefully, the weather will cool off by 4:30 p.m. PT on Saturday for the 50,000 who actually show up. The following week it’s Georgia Southern.

The season really starts Sept. 13 at Purdue.

  1. 50,000? I hope so, but I suspect that is wishful thinking, which you don’t often see at “Inside USC”.

And just when you thought Stanford hit rock bottom, it drilled into bedrock, losing to MG’s Hawaii Warriors.

      1. Coach Reich: “We stayed in the game —that’s all anybody can hope for against mighty Hawaii…. but at the end they just overpowered us…. I’m still so proud of our guys cuz we fought like gladiators.”

    1. Our first 3 games are against teams TIED FOR WORST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY [Phil Steele rankings]….but 67 is right: we won’t see Longstreet….

Riley: “In case we need Husan Longstreet to enter a game due to an injury to Jayden it’s important he not have any game experience…”

“Longstreet can play if we’re 21 points ahead in the 4th quarter and the only thing than could wrong is complete mismanagement of the game….. on second thought, Longstreet can only play if we’re 35 points ahead in the 4th quarter….actually, let’s just say Longstreet isn’t gonna play…”

  2. 67 —Any team that loses to Hawaii should be banned from playing the remainder of it’s schedule…

      1. Unity is the goal, the melting pot or immigrants into one American culture, not diversity. E pluribus unum – meaning “from many one”, it is on our coins. Along with “Liberty” and “In God We Trust.” Give the leftist some time and they will take it off our coins. They have already tried.

  4. I admit for once I agree …SC is not scheduling teams that interest me. In fact the edsel and his ideas are mostly loser oriented. Let’s hope his asst coaches can make up for it.

  5. KAM: It is football season, and I saw this article about SC’s Reggie Bush. I’m working on forgetting the bad Reggie and focusing on the good Reggie, the remarkable Trojan running back

DON: In fact Reggie was nominated as “the most dynamic” college player in this century

KAM: Didn’t you love those stop-and-go moves that left defenders flailing at air?

DON: I like his stats of averaging in every game nearly 100 yards on the ground and 100 yards through the air.

KAM: And every one of his 36 career tds were showstoppers

  6. KAM: Unity is the goal, “from many one,” or many become one

DON: You got about a 50-50 split of Republican-Democrat. You try making them ‘one’

    1. That’s a big ideological split at this time in history. One of parties thought it was a good idea to ignore immigration laws and let in 12 to 20 million unvetted illegal immigrants some of who are middle east terrorists, CCP soldiers, Venezuela gang members, foreign prisoners, MS 13 gang members, drug dealers, Mexican cartel members, human traffickers, ect. and then pay them billions in taxpayer money for benefits that exceed those of U.S. citizens. The other party is now spending billions to jail and deport them and are completing a border wall. It is not difficult to determine which side is correct. Amazing that it is not an 85/15 split in popularity given the differences in policies.

  7. DON: By the way, Carrot was eventually going to leave SC no matter the Bush scandal. And with Carrot would go SC’s dynasty

KAM: Probably more than in any other sport, a football coach really matters

  8. DON: It is nice to go back into time during the Carrot 2003-2008 time and recall how we felt– a lot of exciting moments

KAM: Or to those who are a little older, feeling again the McKay dynasty from 1962-1974

    1. What?! You don’t feel the same watching Riley panic along the sidelines in the last minute of the Cotton Bowl game against Tulane as you did watching McKay serenely sending in plays against Ohio State in the Rose Bowl??
