You want to hear something funny? This isn’t even the first time Lincoln Riley has played Missouri State.
Oklahoma faced Missouri State in its 2020 season-opener and won, 48-0.
Maybe Riley wants to play Missouri State every year to replace Notre Dame.
One thing to remember: USC remains the only NCAA FBS (Division I-A) school that has never played a FCS (non-Division I-A) opponent (since the divisions were formed in 1978). UCLA and Notre Dame used to be able to claim that but no longer.
This is Missouri State’s first game as an FBS school and it has joined Conference USA.
Scooter,
My prediction for the Missouri St. game. SC -51, Miss. St. 10

Plow,
I still live in the SC world where they totally dominated on both sides of the ball. I see the offense running the ball down the opponents throats and I see the defense just shutting down their offense. If I am living in a dream world, let me know. I am hoping hope against hope that SC becomes its former self and just annhilates the opponents like the Carroll, Robinson, and Mckay years.

Does coach Pneumonia know mighty Missouri State is now a FBS school ?
BTW, didn’t someone on this blog, ahem, already point out that Coach Pneumonia had already played Missouri State when he was at Oklahoma?

No different than if you had told people in 2005 that in 2020 we would elect dementia to be our President. They’d have told you you were nuts.
But it happened.

Well losing 10 scholarship a year for three years didn’t help. Tough to develop depth under those circumstances. And of course T.V. revenue and bowl appearances took a dive. A bit of a recruiting handicap. Thanks NCAA, and particularly Paul Dees and of course Reggie Bush for the demise of a once great program. Hope it was worth it Reggie. Couldn’t wait a few months to get the money legitimately. The guy destroyed a program, never apologized for it, and still has his jersey retired. And now he is suing USC.

Anyone reading your list of horribles has to appreciate what Lane Kiffin accomplished that year he went 10-2 [wrapping up the season with a 50-0 victory over UCLA]….

DON: Those were the days even lowly UCLA romped over us three years in a row with their running QB Bret Hundley. Luckily for us Jim Mora fell in love with immobile drop back passer Josh Rosen and their program imploded.

KAM: WHAT IS A WOMAN?
Sorority wins case against Wyoming sisters who sued after man admitted to sisterhood as judge refuses to define ‘woman.’
US District Judge Alan B. Johnson dismissed with prejudice a lawsuit filed by former and current members of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at the University of Wyoming, which argued that the organization violated its bylaws by admitting a trans-identifying male as a member of the female-only sorority.
Judge Johnson ruled on August 22 that the sorority has the autonomy to dictate how it wants to define the word “woman,” arguing that the Courts should not interfere with the internal governance of private organizations.
“Having considered the issues presented (again), we find that the majority of the claims must be dismissed on the grounds that this Court still may not interfere with [the sorority’s] contractually valid interpretation of its own Bylaws,” Judge Johnson wrote in the final ruling, per Wyoming Public Radio.
The complaint was previously dismissed by Judge Johnson in August 2023, but without prejudice, allowing the sorority members to re-file the suit.
The plaintiffs argued in the second filing that President Donald Trump’s January 2025 executive order on “Defending women from gender ideology” defines the word “female” as a “person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell.”
“We dismissed that complaint without prejudice on the grounds that the sorority was free, as a private organization, to define the word ‘woman’ in its bylaws however it wanted,” Johnson wrote in an order, referring to the initial lawsuit, “and therefore the sorority was not contractually obligated to reject transwomen members.”
