When does Rob Ryan make an impact?
It’s been only two games but have the linebackers looked significantly better?
Maybe this is the week they step up? It’s like so many things with USC. It’s not so much that they supposed to be a lot better but there is so much hype, it is assumed they are much better.
I’ve been skeptical of the linebacker hype but maybe the unit will become more impactful once the games get closer.

Every summer leading up to first game, USC is a hype machine.
Go back to mid 80s, 90s, 2000’s, all of our players are special.
This year we have best RBs ever.

Riley & Co plus the athletic department have no clue about USC’s football history, and don’t care.

Gentry had 10 solo tackles. He warrants the hype. The other guys such as Stephens, Robinson, Walker, are inexperienced. Sometimes it takes a few games to get into the flow of the defense.

Ryan was unemployed for a reason.
LB was just another position so poorly recruited by Grinch and then whoever took his spot plus Riley.
If you’re not dominate against two glorified JC teams, it isn’t just all of a sudden going to happen against better quality opponets.

KAM: Haley Sawyer is a college football reporter and AP voter for the Southern California News Group, including the LA Daily News, covering the USC Trojans. They hired her instead of the much more qualified and experienced Scott Wolf to cover USC in the name of DEI. She has Florida ranked, USF unranked, Baylor ranked, Auburn unranked, South Carolina top 10, Vandy unranked (they have a common opponent). Sawyer moved Florida up two spots after losing to USF on Saturday. DON: There are people who would kill for the honor of an AP vote, and half the people who have them are like Affirmative Action hire Haley Sawyer who couldn’t care less. And they give it to an airhead like her.
