USC Morning Buzz: Before Purdue, What’s Up At UCLA?

Is DeShaun Foster going to make it until the end of the season?

Is UCLA going to win a game?

Hard to predict anything when UCLA has a university administration that doesn’t really want to concern itself with football.

It’s a big topic as we get ready for the first game of the season for USC. Or at least the first game I really care about.

Can Purdue make a game of it today?

  1. Nico was the starting quarterback for a CFP team at Tennessee. He played in front of 80,000 fans and made 2 million a year. He got greedy and ended up at UCLA, one of the few teams interested in him. He took a huge pay cut, plays on a team that may not win a single game and only 18,000 fans show up for a home game. What a huge mistake.

    1. KAM: As Frank Zappa said, “We’re only in if for the money!”

DON: College football as we once knew it is dead. this is mercenary ball. NW’s QB was from SMU and Oregon’s was from UCLA. They don’t care about school, have a major or even know the fight song.

      1. I’m pleased to say I’m the only one on this blog who Zappa called a ” …. a man whose name will go down in history with a black mark.” [Or words to that effect….just cuz I prosecuted a punk band]……

Michael, I found the following video of the failure to rebuild Lahainia so depressing:

If this has been an Amish community, with just horses and wagons, it would have been rebuilt many moons ago.

      3. KAM: They are already rebuilding in the Las Posas Estates and Camarillo Heights where the fire went through last November.

Camarillo has streamlined the rebuilding process for residents affected by the recent fire, allowing homeowners to bypass the zoning clearance step and start directly with the permitting process. The city has also established a dedicated Mountain Fire Planning Rebuild Team to assist residents throughout their recovery efforts.

DON: Less than 100 have begun reconstruction in Pacific Palisades… Governor Mimbo and Mayor Bass Face are pathetic!

    1. KAM: UCLA paid $1.2 million to play New Mexico in upset loss!

DON: UCLA paid New Mexico $1.2 million to travel to Los Angeles for the game, per On3’s Brett McMurphy.

With the loss, the Bruins record fell to 0-3 this season. They’ve also lost to Ytah and crummy UNLV. However, neither of those defeats were as demoralizing for UCLA as their loss against New Mexico.

      1. Maybe 15,000 paid in attendance? Tickets were going for ##$8 a piece, so with the $1.2 million, ucla not only lost the game, they lost money.

      1. Foster: “I’m proud of the effort today! Damn proud! We fought like warriors. But we couldn’t keep up with that 15 point underdog!”

    1. Hi, 67 —Thanks for posting the above video —I am getting “moderated” for saying Sybil must be pleased with all the suffering that continues in Lahaina —- it’s heartbreaking….. and the delays in rebuilding are obviously intentional….

      1. Lahaina is (was) the heart of Maui’s tourist industry…Hawaii is screwing itself by not rebuilding. Perhaps the only state with worse governance than CA.

Well, there is also New York.

      2. 67 — I’ve spent my entire life in the two worst run states in the country, California and Hawaii. Dem run state government is appalling —almost as if they want to see their voters suffer….and their voters seem to like it & want more….
