Sometimes, the official stats are wrong about who plays and who doesn’t play. But the official stats from Illinois say defensive tackle Jide Abasiri did not play Saturday.
It appears true because USC’s stats show him playing in only four games this season.
Why does it matter? He is still listed as a starter on USC’s depth chart and was not listed in the injury report for the Illinois game. So if he did not play, it’s a surprise. He wore an arm brace the previous week so maybe an arm injury kept him out.
Keeshawn Silver, the transfer from Kentucky, started instead and had two tackles.
The problem is Lincoln Riley gives so little information no one often knows what’s going on. Riley still hasn’t said anything about Ja’Kobi Lane’s injury.
