You probably saw before the Michigan game some former USC greats like Anthony Munoz, Marcus Allen and Willie McGinest were down on the field.
Well, former USC linebacker and Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith was also at the game and when he went to get a pass to go down on the field was told, “come back later and if someone didn’t show up we’ll give you a pass.”
He’s only a Super Bowl MVP. Jen Cohen should remember him because he played for the Seahawks in her beloved Seattle.
USC can sell a field pass to people for pre-game access but can’t let a Super Bowl MVP down there. Amazing.
- A USC fan going to Notre Dame this weekend has hired a brass band to perform a Second Line Parade through the stadium parking lot before the game in case it is the final edition of the greatest intersectional rivalry in college football.
A Second Line Parade is a celebratory procession that is popular at New Orleans jazz funerals. If you are at the game, the parade will start at 5 p.m. ET at the Embassy Suites hotel, which is one mile from the stadium and continue through the parking lots toward Notre Dame Stadium.
Is that what the ” Trojan Family ” is all about ?
I always thought that you were a ” Trojan For Life ”

DON: It is amazing how the greatest rivalry of them all, SC-Notre Dame could be coming to an end
KAM: If Wiley is pushing for this then I say, ‘how can a guy who will not be at SC in the near future have so much influence over this?

DON: How did SC Coach McKay put it– “Nothing feels worse than losing to ucla and nothing feels better than beating Notre Dame”
KAM: But even McKay had difficulty beating ND at their home except for a couple of years like in 1967 when he had O.J. Simpson’s running magically dispelling the Irish

It is indeed all about the benjamins. USC-Notre Dame was part of the magic of college football. The train ride across the country back in the day, Knute Rockne, Howard Jones, Ara Parseghian, John McKay, and all the great who played in the series created an extremely valuable tradition and charm to college football that the pro game will never have. Sad that aspect of the game is gone.

Although pro football is played prettier than college ball, the college brand has more passion wrapped into it
And of course football is about the money. Isn’t everything these days? But it doesn’t seem to have dimmed fans’ exuberance

DON: The 2 teams tend to have long streaks of winning with the Irish once not losing for some 13 years in a row
KAM: But countering that was Carrot’s 8-game reign
DON: Lately except for that 2022 year with Celeb, ND has run roughshod over the team

DON: This series cannot end. Even last year’s game was worthy of a memory with SC about to tie it up when ND struck with 2 nearly 100-yard interceptions. That was a first
KAM: The game Saturday has the feel of a throwback game where both schools have something to play for
DON: Right. A 3rd loss for ND knocks them out of the Playoff race, and a win for SC sets them up for a probable Playoff berth

There is a worst case scenario for USC [which we all have to hope doesn’t play out]: Notre Dame, not fearing our o-line’s ability to protect Jayden for more than 2 seconds, crowds the box and shuts off our short passing game. On offense, Notre Dame throws long on it’s first 3 or 4 drives and exposes our secondary.
Best case scenario: Riley and Lynn have actually come up with an innovative game plan which involves our tight ends as both receivers & fullbacks, Longstreet is placed in wildcat situations from the get go, our confused corners are encouraged to forget playing the ball and just make receivers pay dearly [so dearly they hear footsteps by the second quarter].

–Don’t look now but Maiava is in the Heisman race, and a win over ND might seal the deal for him. A win in this game has helped many a player get that Heisman trophy

Maiava probably should be thinking about one thing only: advancing the line of scrimmage with each play…
We could have beaten Notre Dame in Caleb’s second year if he didn’t try to play hero ball in South Bend…..
