USC Notes: Here’s One Way To Help The Leaky Run Defense

Ed Orgeron says in the interview below that he is willing to be a defensive line coach as he seeks a return to coaching.

USC’s run defense could definitely use him.

Now let me say this because I am not naive. Lincoln Riley and Ed Orgeron are like oil and water. Riley wouldn’t hire him and I’m not sure Orgeron would work for him.

But I know the defensive line would better if Orgeron were coaching them.

  • USC received a commitment from 7-foot twins Adonis and Darius Ratliff, who are top 100 players in the 2026 class. They are the sons of former NBA player Theo Ratliff.

Now look at the Eric Musselman reaction video. I don’t want to say it’s staged but three guys are watching Musselman instead of the announcement.

  1. How can the D line not line up properly. 3 guys to the left of center and only one to the right. Many players have been playing football since they were five years old. Its not difficult. “Gee, do you think maybe we need to put another guy over there. ” Same crap that happened in the Tulane game.

    1. What do you think is SO wrong with our lines that Riley can say “we played physically …but we just didn’t line up properly on either side of the ball”??

      1. BS. Games are won in the trenches. I never thought we were going to win even though we were leading in the third quarter. The announcers were focusing on ND’s left guard. He was opening up huge holes. How often is the disparity in line play so obvious that the announcers highlight it.

  2. Scooter,

I would love to have Oregeron back but at what capacity? If Oregeron would come back as a head coach, you get rid of Riley. With Riley’s buy out, it is around $60 million. You pay Riley an anunnity of $3 million per year for 20 years. You pay Oregeron $5 mil per year. SC is saving $2 mil per year. That $2 mil goes towards assistants.

Get this to Jen Taco Lita Cohen so she can get Oregeron. Let’s go.

      1. Tell me again how great Larry Smith was, the guy whose winning percentage is above Tollner, Hackett and pretty much no one else.

And why you keep bringing up the moon landing, which did happen, is for only you to know

BTW, your Oakland home didn’t burn down

      2. KAM: Larry was beloved at the University of Arizona but he thought so highly of himself he left the friendly confines and LA proved too much for the man.

DON: With Rodney Peete at QB, Larry Smith came so close to a NC in 1988 but his #1 Trojans lost in the Coliseum to #2 ND 27-10 . Then his blue chip recruit Todd Marinovich proved to be his undoing.

      3. Larry was a taskmaster —he practiced the team so hard guys passed out. It goes without saying that’s not exactly consistent w/California culture. Kids got sick of both Larry and his wife after the first 2 years— they were old fashioned and outta step…..but Larry knew more about winning football games than Tollner or Hackett would ever know…..and proved it at struggling programs like Missouri….

…But, at USC, Marinovich turned into Larry’s own personal Josh Rosen…

As for the moon landing, we both know where you [mindlessly] used to stand on that. Glad you decided to cease embarrassing yourself. All those out of context astronaut quotes were getting hard to take….

      4. The fact that you think I’m fake Gabby is hilarious.

Smith took Tollner’s recruits and had two good seasons, he choked away his best season against ND and Michigan. He was brought to USC by Mike McGee to ” improve the academics of the football team ” so 90% of them Majored in communications. After a couple of years his recruiting was so bad he was fighting Fresno St and San Diego State for players and the top local recruits were getting poached by everyone else.

Smith stunk at Tulane, he was average at Arizona and he blew at Missouri, unless you consider 33-46-1 wonderful, which you apparently do. Smith finished his career winning 53% of his games, you can’t get more average than that.

BTW, your office wasn’t next to Marcia Clark during the OJ trial, you resigned in 1993 after you lost to Hahn, you then went up north and taught, and your Oakland house never burned down, more to come to prove that you’re an imposter.

      5. I have caught that fraud in numerous lies regarding his past. You’re right about the campaign ass^^^whipping he took and moving to Oakland.

He still can’t explain how he was posting on this blog the day Maui caught on fire, when it was reported that the internet and phone service were down in that area.

He said he was married….. public records show he’s not

        keep nailing him…….I love it

I thought Gabby said a few days back that he was going to the USC marching band pep rally today at the Palms at 2:00 and wanted to β€œmeet up” with Scott. Instead, he spent the day trolling the blog. Once again a threat followed by a no show. That’s our Cowardly Gabby. All talk, no walk.

    1. It may be a defensive line job with someone that I believe *can win a championship.* Excludes the Fighting Lincolns.
    2. I thought Ed O was persona non grata after giving Kif a black eye.

If Ed O can come back just to punch Riley, then I’m for it.

      1. KAM: Kennedy Polamalu is an American Samoan professional football coach who punched Lame Kiffin before the December 2012 Sun Bowl game and is currently the running backs coach for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League.Β

DON: Formerly, he served as the running backs coach for the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, and Las Vegas Raiders.Β He was the offensive coordinator for the UCLA Bruins.Β Prior to that he was the offensive coordinator for the USC Trojans. Interestingly, he was born the day President Kennedy was a s s a s s i n a t e d so his mother named him in honor of the slain president.

  3. KAM: The Pride of USC, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, has once again turned the truth on its head. In a stunning move, she’s calling for an investigation into ICE agents. She is accusing them of “detaining American citizens”.

DON: But here’s the reality, Bass refuses to admit these so-called β€œcitizens” were obstructing lawful ICE operations and breaking federal law. Instead of standing with law enforcement, Bass is siding with the very people undermining our immigration system! Her role model Fidel would be proud.

    1. Karen Bass is a Marxist moron [she’s proved it time and time again — but my favorite sustained proof was the day she returned from the Ivory Coast or wherever the phuck she was hiding out during the Palisades fires….and stood close-mouthed and blurry-eyed while reporters asked her what in the hell she was doing to save a city she didn’t want to save]…..
