Some of the sights today in Lincoln, Neb.

Larsen going with the unpopular pick in Lincoln.

Interior of state capitol builing.

Cannot argue with this.

Johnny Carson is a Nebraska native, of course.

True story. About 20 years ago, I attended a banquet to honor an attorney, Todd, who had just been named partner in my old law firm. His mentor gave a speech. He recalled how he interviewed Todd for a job 10 years earlier and had some concerns. Namely, he told Todd that the law firm had a prestigious reputation, and only hired attorneys from the best law schools, and he was concerned because Todd graduated from Nebraska Law School. He added that when he things of Nebraska he thinks of corn and football not academic excellence. In response, Todd said “let me tell you something. You know that N on the side of the football helmet. It not only stands for Nebraska, it stands for Nowledge. Our graduates are known for their pursuit of nowledge.”
Well, I thought it was funny.

The “N” stands for No Nowledge.

I hope Larsen knows something we don’t know…

I am fairly confident we will win 67. Nebraska has struggled in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The Minnesota offense gashed their defense with runs and the Minnesota defense was able to effectively pressure the Nebraska quarterback. Not a good combination. And our offense with skill guys like Makai Lemon are much better than Minnesota. Should beat them convincingly especially coming off of a bye week.

67 and Plow —That Larsen score is what the final tally SHOULD be —now let’s finally get it done in a tough away game —-and get ready for a nice Coliseum stretch staring next week…..

DON: So Minnesota ran roughshod over Nebraska’s feeble defense. I wonder if the SC boys saw that tape?
KAM: On paper SC looks to be the better team, 100-to nothing, but unfortnately they play the game where it is more like 50-50

KAM: -Got to talk about the double play that ended the game for the winning Dodgers. Even I let out a scream. But the poor Toronto player who got doubled had wandered too far off the base
DON: But before that the Dodgers were saved when that same guy hit a ball that got wedged in the base of the outfield wall, preventing a triple because it is a ground rule double. ‘Vegas wouldn’t even lay odds on that happening

DON: Aside from Vanderbilt at Texas our SC-Nebraska game looks the best
KAM: The Huskers played some of the best football in the country in the late 1900s, and SC had its run in the early 2000s. Since then for both squads it has been a bit of a parched desert

KAM: Rodney Dangerfied would always start with “What a crowd, what a crowd,” and he would have loved the Toronto crowd last night. Toronto has not had many athletic championships, but they could taste this one, they were so close. And with this game rode the hopes of an entire nation
DON: The crowd was at times deafening, especially with any hit, the hits being so rare in this Series. Similar to the excitement felt when witnessing a last minute football drive to win the game, baseball too can draw out long moments of sustained excitement during rallies.
KAM: The Dodgers had their only rally when they scored 3-runs in one inning. Their fans were ecstatic and relieved. Toronto had its rally crushed in the 9th inning. Afterwards, not a sound could be heard except for the celebrating Dodgers
