USC Notes: An In-Depth Look At Tusk

ESPN has a long article today on Mick Fleetwood’s appearance at the USC-Northwestern game and a lot of background on how Fleetwood and the USC band came together for “Tusk.”

One interesting tidbit is that Dodgers third baseman Ron Cey was hanging around Fleetwood Mac at the time and arranged the use of Dodger Stadium for the recording and video — free of charge.

When Fleetwood called the band office, they said they would have to call him back. Assistant band director Tony Fox eventually returned the call and Fleetwood himself answered the phone.

Fleetwood follows USC football games on TV from his home in Maui and sometimes hears “Tusk” in the background.

“Oh my God,” he said. “They’re still playing it.”

  • USC’s game vs. Iowa on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. PT will be on the Big Ten Network. Better than being on the Pac-12 Network.
  • USC’s game against Oregon on Nov. 15 has a six-day designation so no TV channel has been determined yet.

The average UCLA student doesn’t like having to take a bus 20 miles one way to see their football team play in 100 degree temperatures in September. Incompetent DEI AD Dan “Chiati” Guerrero should be sued for AD malpractice for signing a deal with the Rose Bowl that allows the stadium to keep revenue accrued from suite sales. Suites are highly profitable seats and being able to get a slice of the pie would be beneficial for UCLA. Sofi Stadium would give UCLA the suite revenue.

      DON The Rose Bowl was doing fine before 1982 when UCLA showed up and will do fine after they leave.

  7. After beating #9 NC State in hoops on Sunday, our Lady Trojans jumped from #18 to #8! It was a great ending.

    We play #2 South Carolina on Saturday at 6:00 on Fox. Ohio State should be beating UCLA by at least 40 points at that point, so not worth watching the end. Although 11 TX-5 GA will still be going, both with 4:30 kickoffs.

      CNN used internet archives to find a top Democrat running for Senate in Michigan scrubbed his social media of thousands of posts showing his intention is to defund the police.

      Murderous Muslim Democrat candidate Abdul El-Sayed “deleted thousands of tweets before launching his campaign. Among them were ones from 2020, in which he fully backed the controversial defund the police movement, calling police standing armies, and saying that cities should shift funding from law enforcement to social services. In interviews at the time, he regularly said things like this:

      “When we talk about the question of, quote, unquote, defunding the police, it’s a question of asking, how do we right size government away from the racist ideologies that have led us to investing in war material for policing rather than public health for children.”

      Now, those posts are gone. His website doesn’t mention police at all. It’s a big shift from his old rhetoric and it’s not hard to see why.

  12. Iowa has what Scott would call “a 1940’s offense”, they rush the ball 40 or more times a game, they throw very little, only averaging 300 yards of total offense. Their defense gives up a measly 250 yards of offense, which is half of what USC produces.

    So it looks like it will be USC offense vs. Iowa defense.
