Looks like James Franklin was a bigger draw at Penn State than Brian Kelly at LSU or Billy Napier at Florida based on this list of decommitments since they were all fired:

  • Kelly- 1
  • Napier- 0
  • If Lincoln Riley left USC, I bet the decommitments would be close to 0.

  2. Riles had turned a corner and I see a team that believes in him and their ability to beat any team . Let’s go back in time to the 2002 season – Palmer was still an interception machine , and they’d been dominated at home by a really good K State team. Then came OT against OSU – we’re there after a lovely lunch and bottle of Bordeaux at Pacific Dining Car, and my wife suggests a bootleg left (in so many words) which was exactly the play for the win! We know how the rest of that season turned out for Carson and

        I had Sister Gestapo, Sister Meany, Sister Grouch, and Sister Nice. I say this in fun. I thank God everyday for the nuns. They taught me so much about English, Spelling, and Math. I was blessed to have them. Every time I see a nun out in public, I thank her for being a nun.

  4. Penn State is taking a huge risk with firing Franklin and paying his huge buyout. No guarantee the next coach will be better. And Franklin always recruited well.

My best friend growing up in Pasadena went to ND while I was at USC a year ahead so he brought his Domer Holy Cross Hall buddies out for the 88 game and Friday night we ended up late at Top of Five and these guys laid an oyster when they met an ND Heisman winner up there (Lattner or Lujack – can’t recall) . Dinner at Gladstones before. Fun weekend until Smagalla intercepted Peete at the end of the 1st half.

    If SC loses to Whoregon, it will be lack of discpline on defense, being pushed back on defense, and the offense being soft. SC’s oline will be soft. If SC had their act together, they would have been practicing physical football all summer and during the season. they have not and it shows.

    Riley is 0-6 versus ranked teams on the road, since arriving at USC.

    I’m really glad it’s a 12:30 game this Saturday. I hate going to bed with the last thing I watch having been a USC loss. Hopefully the Huskies will make that “last thing” be a SUCLA trouncing.
