USC Morning Buzz: Lincoln Riley Makes Cut For Award

Lincoln Riley has been named a semifinalist for the George Munger Coach of the Year Award.

That’s what happens when you are 0-6 at AP Top 25 teams since being hired at USC.

Munger was the head coach at Penn from 1938-53.

  • CBS Sports analyst Randy Cross picked Iowa to beat USC last week. Now he picks USC to beat Oregon.

“I think this USC team is different. SC’s gonna win,” Cross said.

At least he is a consistent contrarian.

  • Steve Sarkisian today: “People reporting or insinuating that there’s a possibility I could leave the University of Texas — and that’s absolutely false and untrue. I am not going anywhere”.

  1. As Scott mentioned last week, King Miller was a semifinalist for the Burlsworth Trophy for the best walk on player of the year. Most of us had never heard of it. The three finalists were named yesterday. Unfortunately, Miller did not make the cut.

  4. DON: The Munger Award is for what a coach has done in 2025, not for what he did or did not do prior to that. As such, Wiley deserves some credit for the SC turnaround this year
