As you know, UCLA hired James Madison coach Bob Chesney.
My reaction: I always like it when you hire a coach who is used to doing more with less.
When you hire someone who coached at Salve Regina, being at UCLA will seem like Disneyland.
It’s the opposite of when you hire a Lincoln Riley, who demands a new football building and doesn’t want to play Notre Dame. But still can’t make the College Football Playoff before Brent Venables.
Chesney just needs a few assistant coaches who are familar with Southern California and he should be fine.

Regarding Bohn: don’t know, and don’t care. He is anathema to USC now.
Regarding ucla hiring JMU’s HC: inspired move. Depending what he is able to do with that program, it could force USC to confront its own personal demons…

As long as Chesney supports a return to the Pac-12 along with USC, I’m wishing him the best! If the Ducks & Huskies come along, even better!! That would make 12.
I’m not counting the Zag since they don’t have a football team.

Stop it SFB! You don’t know anything about Chesney. Who’s in his coaching circle. How much money does he get to spend on his coaches. He doesn’t have a lot of leverage. He’s walking into the Big10, with no Power 5 coaching experience as a assistant in his career.

UCLA does not hire Bob Chesney if Kurt Cignetti was not wildly successful at Indiana. James Madison to UCLA is quite a jump. I like the choice. It seems as though many of the coaches at these smaller programs have game. I want USC to hire one of them – how about Matt Entz in 2027 after Riley goes 7-5 in 2026.
