It’s Signing Day and USC has the No. 1-recruiting class.
Who is flipping?
Wide receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt of Mater Dei has flipped from Ohio State to USC.
Chris Henry, also of Mater Dei, was suppoed to sign with Ohio State but is holding off because wide receivers coach Brian Hartline was hired by South Florida.
“I have not signed yet. Still trying to weigh my options due to coaching changes I just want to make the right decision for my future,” Henry said.
- USC has currently signed 34 of its 35 commitments. Tight end Mark Bowman of Mater Dei is the final recruit who needs to sign.
- For what it’s worth, USC’s recruiting average rating (90.83) is lower than Notre Dame, Oregon, Alabama and Ohio State. But USC has more recruits than those schools.
- Notre Dame has the No. 2-ranked class. How did they ever recover from losing Chad “Charmin” Bowden.
- Defensive end Andrew Williams of Fremont High School in Los Angeles signed with USC today. Ricky Bell came to USC as a linebacker from Fremont before getting switched to fullback and then became one of its greatest tailbacks. USC halfback Don McCall was also a Fremont graduate in the 1960’s
To say SC has the No.1 class is a bit misleading because the Trojans have such a large class at 30 to 34

The good news is that USC average quality is about the same as Georgia and OSU.
ND, Oregon, and ‘Bama got the most five stars.
This year’s class for USC, if it holds together, will cost $9 million in NIL money.

100%, 67. And… the reason we’re the consensus Top Class is we have MORE good players coming to our team [read as “to our rescue”] than any other team. That’s a good thing, right?

You know it brother! And I hear we are going to flip Ed. G from ‘Bama!

Great news, 67! Ed. G is exactly the kind of player we need: One who comes in fully prepared, with no need of coaching…

I really hope Jayden sticks around — with a better defense and so many quality skill players on offense he has a chance to really up his NFL stock in 2026 [and, perhaps, even get some Heisman recognition on the way]….

I thought USC’s NIL package was more than 9 million. Heard that Bowman was getting 2 million a year and Jahkeem Stewart was 1 million. Maiava and Longstreet and Williams must get at least a million each per year.

trojan1967,
we might have the same talent as those schools, but we are lacking with coaching, specifically a head coach.

Has Mark Bowman, USC’s five star tight end signed yet? According to AI:
“Yes, five-star tight end Mark Bowman has signed with USC. He committed to the Trojans in May and officially signed on the early national signing day in December 2025, joining a strong recruiting class. “
Don’t worry, be happy.

Both our site and On3 showing that he is merely committed and not signed. We had a couple of others that signed today and their statuses were updated accordingly. (Very early this morning, they were still showing as only “Committed”, but now “Signed”.)

My prediction —This class will win a National Championship before they’re done…

I will be pleasantly surprised if LR ever wins us a Nat’l Championship.
My guess would be one win in the CFP being the best he ever does. Though I would love to be wrong.

Both of those sites now showing Bowman as Signed. So AI was right in this case. (It still thinks men can menstruate.)

Anxiously awaiting Scott’s “The future’s so bright I gotta throw shade” column.

Rush: The class is so big it will be hard to throw shade, even for Scott. (Not really.) When you have 6 highly rated lineman, that follow two decent o line recruiting classes, chances are that some of them will be NFL level good. The offensive line is always the foundation of any great football dynasty. I think we are going to have some great players on the line in a few years. And I really like Wafle and some others as edge rushers. I think we have been missing a great player at that position and the Lynn defense is dependent on it. We also have a ridiculous number of highly rated defensive backs and two good and maybe great interior defensive lineman – Jamieson and Tom Tom who will complement Stewart and Bouchard.
On the down side, most of these guys will expect to start right away or they will enter the portal. (See Gus Cordova.) Others, if they meet or exceed expectations, will expect big NIL money or will head to the portal. (See Emmanuel Pregnon.) McKay, Robinson, and Carrol didn’t have to deal with this crap.

Agree, Plow —but there are worse problems to deal with than “an embarrassment of riches”….

MG: What do schools do when they have a player who is paid one million a year per contract but isn’t good enough to start. You can’t just cut them. It presumably is a 4 year contract. Do you start putting buyout clauses in these NIL deals? Seriously, these guys are evaluated based on high school. College is a different world. Many of the so called 4-5 stars won’t make it.

Here’s my take on that whole question: Yes, several guys won’t pan out — and they’re gonna be owed money anyway….but, bottom line, we’re gonna end up with at least a couple of stud linebackers, a new VERY SMART QB, several top receivers and a stronger o-line —- we’re gonna be good to go….
