Among the players USC announced re-signing today was defensive tackle Jamaal Jarrett. He had three tackles in four games.

When USC went to Notre Dame in 1931, the Trojans held two practices during their journey by train. One in Tucson and one in Hutchinson, Kan.
The Tucson practice was 45 minutes long! And they still beat undefeated Notre Dame.

Why the hype about Kiffin? Didn’t he fail at SC and professionally at Arizona? I feel the only reason he is still coaching is because Sabin took him under his wing like he did Sark. Why the interest? LSU lost on the deal.

In 1931, teams didn’t really throw the ball. The offensive and defensive schemes were very basic. That probably influenced the need to practice executing plays for hours. And they didn’t wear helmets. Probably shouldn’t practice too much without a helmet.
