Should Husan Longstreet’s agent call Washington today?
Is the game officially gone after Huskies QB Demond Williams entered the transfer portal less than a week after signing a contract with Washington?
How many of you have even heard of some of the USC players that have been announced as “re-signing” with the Trojans? Quite a few of them never played and spent exactly one semester at USC.
There’s no way for fans to develop any kind of repoire with most players because they spend a single season at the school and then move elsewhere. Or they finally get their chance like Alabama QB Ty Simpson and then enter the NFL Draft.
And someone will also mentions the coaches. Yes, Lincoln Riley gets to make $11 million a year to do less than Clay Helton, who won a Rose Bowl. Congrats.
Like I said, the game’s gone. But TV ratings are good!
Scooter,
Any word on a DC? Riley is such a panzy ass pencil neck geek. He should have open competition with the 2 qb’s. Rae and Haden switched off. Maiva has hit his limit. Longstreet might be better.
Has Jen Taco Lita Cohen made a decision between the tacos or burritos? she is taking so long for the DC choice.
This program has slipped so much from the position that it should be. This program makes ucla look like a juggernaught. Don’t be suprised if ucla beats SC in the next couple of years if we still have the pencil neck geek riley around.
budda, you are 100% spot on about riley.

Great points by Scottie. As the $$$ in the game grew, and as it became increasingly apparent that the NCAA was trying to hide antitrust and intellectual property issues, the genie came out of the bottle with Ed O’Bannon’s lawsuit, the game did change, and not in all ways for the better.
Back in the day we got at least 3 years with the players. Now, they are hyped when they join – “USC signs 4-star OL!” – and then they sign with another team after not playing when they are a frosh.
Poster child: Romello Height. played 1 year at Auburn, USC, Georgia Tech, Texas. He turns 25 this year.

Never thought of Ed G as a real estate tycoon. He seemed more like a man of the people “a chicken in every pot.”

What is the point of signing these guys if they don’t honor their contracts. Washington should sue Demond Williams for breach of contract and request money damages exceeding 10 million. They should also sue any college that offers Williams for intentional interference with contractual economic advantage. But they will not do it. Why? Because they are afraid that this will negatively impact their ability to sign future players. The NIL contracts are all one sided. If the player gets hurt and doesn’t play a game, he still receives all his NIL money plus free tuition, room and board. The colleges assume all the risks while the players assume none.
And why can’t the schools implement a policy similar to baseball. You have a draft after your freshman year, and if you decide to stay in college you are obligated to play until after your junior season. You don’t get to turn professional after your sophomore year. These guys should only be given two opportunities to transfer – after their freshman and junior seasons. This re-signing after each season is unfair to the college and destabilizes the structure of the game. That is why Saban left the game.

KAM: Seems like the players act just like the coaches now.
DON: What’s the difference between this and what Kiffin just pulled on Ole Miss?

You have a point. But at least the schools have a buy out clause with coaches who jump to another team. And in some respects, it is easier to replace a coach with an assistant coach than to replace a star quarterback, receiver, left tackle, edge rusher and safety all leaving at the same time.

KAM: I know, I hate how it is now.
DON: There is no stability in college sports at all now.
