USC Notes: There’s Always Something Going On

Remember a couple weeks ago Keyshawn Johnson said Lincoln Riley “knows nothing about being a Trojan.”

I heard Johnson actually reached out to Riley afterward on an unrelated matter.

What I haven’t heard is whether Riley responded. Who knows with Riley?

  • Is Alijah Arenas going to play this week? I’ve heard USC coach Eric Musselman wants him to play but his family still has concerns.

  1. Yes, interested in the DC hire.

And how about reporting on how well the 2026 class did in the Navy All American bowl I heard that 6 of the top 10 evaluated players come from USC and USC only fielded 7 players. Luke Wafle was the MVP of the game and also received the highest rating in practice. Supposedly, absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage. Nobody could block him. Jameon Winfield was the highest rated DL and Vlad Dyakonov was the highest rated OL. The WR from Mater Dei, Wyatt Dixon, also played well.

Honestly, who gives a sh*t about whether someone responded to an unrelated matter. C’mon Scott. Raise the bar. Report on the DC selection, the portal, and the recruiting class. Has Alex Graham signed yet? What’s the hold up? Why hasn’t Coach Henny accepted the offer to be DC at Georgia Tech?

    1. Scott replies: “I feel protective of Keyshawn cuz I liked the way he went psycho over USC taking Notre Dame off its schedule and started saying crazy sh*t that made it look like he didn’t know we were gonna be playing a Big Ten schedule with way better teams than Notre Dame on it”…..

  2. KAM: USC linebacker Matai Tagoa’i transfers to Arizona. Tagoa’i leaves USC after one season with the Trojans. He had four tackles in three game appearances for USC this past season. Tagoa’i and wide receiver DJ Jordan are both signing with Arizona after being at USC in 2025.

The 6-4, 205-pound Tagoa’i prepped at San Clemente High School in San Clemente, California and signed with the hometown Trojans as a four-star prospect last year. Tagoa’i played in the 2025 Polynesian Bowl.

DON: As a high school prospect, Tagoa’i also held offers from Alabama, BYU, Miami, Georgia, Arizona, Washington, Oklahoma, Michigan and Auburn, among others. He was rated by 247 as the 14th-best linebacker nationally for the 2025 recruiting class.

    1. Rumor is that USC did not want to re-sign him. Very surprising. The kid was an absolute stud in the Polynesian bowl. Tall, fast, athletic, and hits hard. The traits one looks for in a linebacker.

KAM: NC Finalist Miami will be in the market for a starter with QB Carson Beck heading to the NFL after their College Football Playoff run. If Miami coach Mario Cristobal decides to go after a quarterback in the transfer portal, former USC QB Husan Longstreet would be an excellent option.

DON: Longstreet isn’t typically Miami’s M.O. at quarterback with his inexperience. The Hurricanes typically go after experienced transfers like Beck and Cam Ward in the season before. But Longstreet is talented enough to compete for a starting gig.https://x.com/LaCobra225/status/2009723976407245091
