Here’s what a coach who worked with Gary Patterson said about the idea of him becoming defensive coordinator.
“It will be a good hire if they get the old Gary Patterson and not old Gary Patterson,” he said.
- I wrote last year how USC did not have enough money and had given up on completing Dedeaux Field before the baseball season.
Here’s a current view:
So they’re not going to canopy the seats for “New” Dedeaux Field? Brilliant! Add to the fact that there is not enough seating to host a NCAA regional. Is there anything this athletic department can’t screw up?

I guess Scott thinks USC will hire Paterson. He’s an old guy. Hasn’t coached in a few years but when he did had a reputation with his teams as a real disciplinarian, a hard azz. Maybe this is good but perhaps this approach would be a disaster in the hit the portal era of football.
What concerns me is he runs a unique defensive scheme. So the players will once again need to learn a new system. It took two years to learn Lynn’s defense and they were still lining up wrong and blowing coverages. Nobody learned Grinch’s scheme. Here we go again.

Sounds like a risky hire, in that you don’t know if you are going to get “the old Gary Patterson” or “old Gary Patterson”.

KAM: Patterson needs to accept the ride is over.
DON: Like Pete, he doesn’t seem to know when to get off the stage. Please SC, hire someone under 60 who is competent. They are out there!

I guess Patterson is the guy Riley was talking about when he said his phone was “ringing off the hook.”

wolfman, what are you complaining bout?? the NUMBER 1 RANKED UCLA Bruins baseball team is dealing with being backstabbed by the selfish disabled veterans who are trying to convert hallowed Jackie Robinson stadium into “housing” for disabled veterans. for chrissakes, these’s acres of space over in the LA railyards across the street from Phillipe’s. we could probably plant them there easy, peasy. i figure about 12 vets to each tiny house. if we could just get a waiver of the environmental analysis, i reckon we could get them all moved over there in tents until the houses can be shipped in. we can give them food vouchers for the gas station on Alvarado st. Do i have to think of everything?

Caleb ended the season by throwing one interception too many.

You’re right, 67. I just re-watched it! That interception was NOT on Caleb!

KAM: This pass play will be remembered forever by Bears fans:https://x.com/edwch79/status/2013257312379510987…
DON: Iconic!

KAM; Great game, it was like watching the changing of the guard— Matthew Stafford, the great QB of the first half of 2020s, to Celeb Williams. This is Staffords swan song this season.
DON: Celeb Williams will be dominating the NFL the rest of the decade. The Bears fans should be comforted with that thought this cold snowy winter.

….and yet there are headlines that some [dumb] bears fans, not realizing they have a generational talent, are calling for Caleb to be traded….

Much thanks to Michael and Trojan1967 for so accurately describing the interception in OT by the Rams. I would put all of the blame on the OC who called that play and the four plays from the five yard line with four minutes to go in the fourth quarter. He took the ball out of Caleb’s hands and feet. The four plays from the five looked like a replay of the Trojans in the Alamo bowl. The OT interception play should never have been called. They only needed about 15 yards, and use either short passes or Caleb runs to get it. Give Caleb run or pass options. What is the old saying about keeping the ball in the hands of your best player….well, Caleb was the best player on the field.

Nice, Ambitious…
….In other words, with a little less daring by play caller and QB, the bears were about to win the game…
