There is no way who makes excuses more than Lincoln Riley defenders.
One excuses getting a lot of play is that Indiana won the national title because it has old players.
Does anyone remember that Chad “Charmin” Bowman made a big point after he got hired about signing the biggest freshman class ever and the importance of high school recruits over the transfer portal?
So you can’t have it both ways. If you think Indiana had an unfair advantage, why aren’t you upset USC isn’t doing it too?
The same people criticizing Indiana are the ones celebrating USC’s No. 1 recruiting class.
- The Big Ten schedule will be released Tuesday.
- USC finished 20th in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll.
- Did you see that DJ Mal-ski was at the Indiana-Miami game?
- Former USC defensive coordinator Todd Orlando has been named defensive coordinator at South Alabama. He was at South Florida last season.
- Whatever happened to Tino Sunseri?
“Todd Orlando…now that is a name that I have not heard in a long time.”

I will make the point again that no coach, except maybe Nick Saban during his time at Alabama, can be perfect every year. John McKay and Howard Jones were great coaches and they still weren’t perfect. Riley is not perfect by no means, but that doesn’t mean that he deserves childish nicknames and no compliments when they are deserved. If you want USC to win every game every year, you are delusional and ridiculously childish. I greatly appreciate commentators on this blog like Michael and USC1967 who actually talk about needs and facts. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

You are a senile old man. Riley has won nothing nationally. Blown more games than anyone else. You talk like a dumb ass comparing John Mckay to him. You forgot about putting Pete Carroll in that group. Get lost fanboy!

Scott Wolf, stop it with the silly reductio ad absurdum arguments. You need talent and experience. The transfers brought in were underwhelming for the past season. You still need veterans. Meanwhile, someone has to establish a standard for the new players and second year players to avoid slippage. Ask Cignetti if he has enough young players to keep a championship standard. College football has become professional.

Scott: What’s going on with the DC hire. Heard that Gary Patterson wants to can Doug Belk because he will coach up the safeties. Is this true? Belk is a great recruiter.

wolfman, Tino Sunseri who the bruins got from Indiana, was their QB coach who gets a lot of credit for coaching up an obscure QB there named Fernando Mendoza.
unfortunately, he did not get much of a chance with Uncle Nico due to the chaos of Deshaun Foster’s brief admin. he’s a Saban protégé who also coached at JMU so it may not be a shocker to see Chesney bring him back.

Mendoza was a transfer to Indiana from Cal. I don’t think he was in the program when Sunseri was at Indiana.

This was Mendoza one and only year at Indiana.
Not sure how he coached up Mendoza.
Get your facts straight.

Scooter,
SC won national championships with kids from 17-23 years old. byu has older players and they haven’t done a thing. It is coaching and talent that wins the games. Not age.
