Has anyone at USC the past 10 years ever expressed a doubt about the buyout policy with football coaches?
Lincoln Riley is currently holding USC hostage with his massive buyout ($50-60 million). But before that, there was the same issue with Clay Helton.
Helton got $4.2 million from USC in 2024 and has made $13 million since being fired. He was the third-highest paid employee at USC in 2024 and never had to set foot on campus.
You know what they say the best job in sports is? Fired football coach.

SC can fire Riley on breach of contract and not fulfilling his job to the best of his abilities. SC needs to tell him go pound sand. Let him sue SC. They will settle for $20 mil. Lot better than paying $50 mil.

USC is still responsible for the difference between the GA Southern salary and what USC owed him each season under contract

CA Post first copy for sale this morning….exact copy of the NY Post. Tabloid layout but it’s full of good writers for – entertainment, news, and especially sports. Incredible number of reporters for – MLB, NHL, NBA and NFL. Today’s edition made note the WA Post is on the verge of ditching its’ sports coverage – the report states the WAPO had already budgeted for the Winter Olympics then announced complete cancellation relying on ‘wire coverage’.
Today’s edition had great coverage and opinions about the DEN/NE and LAR/SEA gales and outcomes. Worth the cost $3.60 + purchased at 7/11

I accept the pathetic skill Grinch brought from OK when he accompanied Riley back in late 2021 let’s accept that as valid a flat out awful hire/retention at such a key position but why is there no mention of the: ‘….aw shucks Gomer Pyle/William Bendix…’ clone that Helton was. Couple that with the merry-go-round of athletic directors and the almost monthly scandals elsewhere all over the university plus the arrival of a ‘HRH’ as the new president of the school the program had no other option then to stick with Helton. Bohn pulled off a great hire then he ‘left’.
Riley knows he’s gone next year unless he goes deep into the CFP. USC has if not the toughest at least in top 3 toughest schedule of any program even w.o. ‘the princess’.
I expect great things with Patterson’s hire as well as Maiava staying – this is it and I believe it shall be stunning.

white is a degenerate gambler who will not be the first one to not blow his fortune on same. The bad Karma points hé racks up by exploiting his underpaid and brain-damaged fighters, as well as for pallin’ around with a sexual predator, cannot be escaped.
