Gary Patterson Directly And Indirectly Shaking Things Up

Gary Patterson’s shake-up continues.

He is hiring his former player, Sam Carter, as an assistant. Now here’s the thing: Carter has coached cornerbacks at Arkansas, Mississippi and Purdue. So is USC cornerbacks coach Trovon Reed being sidelined like Rob Ryan?

Does USC need two cornerbacks coaches? It has two linebacker coaches. And two defensive line coaches (Eric Henderson, Shaun Nua).

Henderson is interviewing with the Dallas Cowboys, however.

Is that because he didn’t get the USC defensive coordinator job or because he doesn’t want to work with Patterson? Both.

  1. We can certainly survive without Henderson’s coaching —but will we lose any players over this?

  2. Henderson, Belk and Reed are great recruiters. We may lose some guys because of the coaching change when the portal opens again in Winter, 2027. However, that gives Patterson one season to turn the defense around and show the players that the coaches he brought in are better than the ones who recruited them. A risky move but one that may be necessary under the circumstances. The defensive lineman and secondary struggled last year.

  3. The portal is a two way street. We may lose some recruits, but we can also gain some really good players who want our NIL and want to play for a legendary coach. I am not concerned about his assistants because he will find the kind of assistants that he wants. I’m hoping that for our defense, Patterson is the old Irishman that we need; just like Cignetti was the Old Italian for Indiana. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

    1. I’m getting the feeling that much of the time spent over the last 3 weeks was devoted to getting Patterson to agree to keeping former staff on board…. and that he felt the need for an upgrade….

The motto of the gutties: “Ship? We have no ship. We don’t have the budget.” “Defend? Which way is the exit?” “Faithful? Portal, here we come.”

      2. Anheuser Busch stock is still enormously depressed relative to the overall market.

I never watched the ad until now. It is stupid beyond belief. And not in a anti-trans way. It is just plain old stupid.

      3. All that whole thing showed is that we have just as many crybabies on the Right as they do on the Left. I don’t care who drinks what. If it’s something I’m already drinking, I’m going to keep drinking it.

I’m secure enough in who I am, that a trans enjoying it doesn’t mean diddly squat me. But some people wake up in the morning looking for reasons to cry. The people who whined about the Bud Light campaign are among them.

      4. Partially agree — but the effect of woke propaganda is cumulative …no specific film, ad, magazine, video game, etc., etc… is worth worrying about…. the outcry over Bud was sorta a symbolic reaction to the stampede of crap we’re being exposed to…

      5. “Being exposed to.” I LMAO at how many commercials feature couples who are of the gay. But it doesn’t make a difference to me; There are bigger things to worry about.

One of them is forcing that stuff on children. It doesn’t belong in schools (before high school), in libraries or even at military events! If we can win that battle (and not merely for these 4 years), I’ll be satisfied.

    1. KAM: NFL officially appointed influential storyteller Dhar Mann as its first-ever Chief Kindness Officer and Creator of the Week for Super Bowl LX.

DON: Dhar Mann is a name that’s probably not familiar to too many NFL fans. And his selection by the NFL one is quite a bizarre one given the normally safe and conservative way that the league does business. Mann first entered the headlines in 2012 when he was charged with 13 felonies for defrauding the city of Oakland through his medical marijuana business. He later pled no contest to five of those charges and was sentenced to probation.

After those legal troubles, Mann shifted to content creation where he found much greater success. His YouTube page Dhar Mann Studios has over 25 million subscribers. The content is mainly scripted short movies around 20-30 minutes in length that features some celebrity appearances and thought-provoking titles like “Mikey Falls in Love with YouTuber” and “Vegan Teacher Bans All Meat Inside School.”
