Dawg Work To D.C.

Just when you thought it was safe for USC to keep Eric Henderson, he is going to the Washington Commanders, according to CBS Sports.

Henderson will be defensive line coach and run-game coordinator. Imagine being a Commanders fan and hiring a coach the Dallas Cowboys rejected.

Let’s see if incoming USC defensive linemen actually care about this. The recruiting junkies will go to DEFCON 1.

  1. This may work out in SC’s favor. Patterson will hire the defensive line coach from Texas Tech. He was the assistant coach of the year. Texas Tech had a great pass rush, third in the nation. The coach played and coached for Patterson at TCU. Patterson has been talking to him for weeks.

    1. KAM: Another season of disappointment ahead for Riley Coyote?

DON: Imagine what the next head coach will be able to do with that talent Riley Coyote will be leaving behind!

      1. When he loses at least 25% of those great recruits after this season, we’ll put off those big hopes for another couple of years, as the cycle continues.

Riley will be lucky to ever see the CFP and if he does, we’ll be out after the first game. He is not the guy to get us to the Promised Land.

      2. Edward G. Robinson said the same thing about Moses in “The Ten Commandments.” And Charlton Heston threw his plastic commandments at him …and they blew up when they hit the ground…and Edward fell down a deep hole….

    2. No. Coach Riley said “The time is now.”

Seriously, 10-2 is within reach with the same offense and a stronger, more disciplined defense. We would’ve beaten Illinois, Notre Dame and TCU if our defense did their part.

      1. The loss of Lemon [our best player in a long time] will hurt. No question. But we’ll have an experienced QB and running backs to take up part of the slack. And we’ll still have receivers capable of catching a football….they just won’t be able to turn 25 yard receptions into TD’s the way Lemon did.

And —I have to believe… we’ll have a defense that doesn’t lose games in the last minute [or LAST PLAY as they did with TCU] of a game.

  3. Congrantulations to Coach Henderson on his new position and team. We are in the era of transfers and upward mobility. I am sure that our new DC and LR will find a suitable replacement. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962
