There’s been some speculation that USC should hire Ed Orgeron as defensive line coach.
This happens whenever USC has an opening for a d-line coach.
I don’t see it happening because Orgeron and Lincoln Riley are like oil and water.
Orgeron wants to play physical football. Does Riley? Orgeron would want demanding, physical practices? Would Riley?
Also: I’m not sure Riley ever got over the 63-28 shellacking LSU put on Oklahoma at the College Football Playoff semifinal game in 2019. It was the beginning of the end for Riley at Oklahoma.
Also Part II: How weird would it be for Riley to have an assistant coach who is way more popular with USC fans than he is?
Correct, Scott. It’ll never happen.
Lincoln isn’t smart enough to do it.

All of the assistant coaches are more popular than Wiley

Ed O. wouldn’t be interested in DL coach, for many reasons. Maybe Ed. G would?

Zarnell Fitch, the former Texas Tech defensive line coach, seems like the obvious choice. He was the assistant coach of the year last year. He played for Patterson at TCU and coached with him for six years. If selected, he may be able to bring the number one rated 2017 d lineman with him.
