I’m told at the baseball dinner last week, Andy Stankiewicz made a plea for donations to finish Dedeaux Field. The entire athletics project is still $50 million shy of its stated goal.
“I kind of had to say that” Stankiewicz said.
- It’s fair to say Alijah Arenas looks like an NBA lottery pick after just six games with USC. It’s also fair to say his shooting percentage of 35 percent overall (and 28 percent on 3-pointers) really needs to improve, especially when he averages nearly 14 shots per game.
If USC wants to have a successful NCAA Tournament run, their star is going to need to shoot better.

Chevron, Phillips 66, Valero, Oracle, Tesla, SpaceX, X, have all left. Larry Ellison, Elon Musk, and now Zuckerberg are gone. Gee, who is left to pay the taxes? Are the 10 million illegals in California willing to chip in.

Ed. G, you are on to something. The Calif legislature was considering a bill aimed at preventing Ohtani from escaping taxes on his future Dodger salary when he returns to Japan after retiring. What if the legislature does a “Lincoln Riley” tax?

KAM: You mean like Sam Darnold?
DON:Search Assist
Sam Darnold will owe approximately $249,000 in California taxes after playing in the Super Bowl. This amount is due to California’s “jock tax,” which taxes non-resident athletes based on the number of days they work in the state

You would think that $200 million would be sufficient to build “football facilities” and a baseball stadium. That is a staggering amount given that the project serve less than 200 athletes. Is USC using the same construction company that built Newsom’s bullet train – Fresno to Modesto.
This project is on the heels of the McKay Center that went for $70 million during the Kiffin era. Do you really need “state of the art” facilities every 10 years so that you can compete?

To even be discussed as a lottery pick is out of this world for a guy who could have been killed in a car accident and then had a meniscus repair, which are not so easy to recover from (e.g. James Wiseman.)
